The lights are on
This week Capcom confirmed that Resident Evil: Revelations would no longer just be a 3DS exclusive. But when the roster was announced for the new platforms to support the enhanced version, it seemed like one platform got shunned: The Vita.
Revelations is releasing on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and PC, but many people have been longing for more games on the Vita. Capcom product manager Mike Lunn set the record straight today on why the Vita didn't make the cut on the PlayStation Blog, where he answered user questions in the comments.
As he told a user who questioned its absence, "...we really wanted to hone in on the experience you get with a large format screen, surround sound, etc. This type of setup really helps players get sucked into the horror vibe and enjoy the game to its fullest extent."
But it seems like users still weren't satisfied with that answer and kept on Lunn about their desire for a Vita version. Lunn gave one more final response citing the 3DS and Vita infrastructure and developing for them, "completely different beasts."
Just one look at the comments and it seems like fans still want a Vita version. For now, it doesn't look likely, but at least Lunn offered some perspective instead of completely ignoring fans' request for an answer.
Are you disappointed that Revelations isn't making an appearance on the Vita?

Personally I think the honest truth for Capcom is that making a Vita version is more trouble than it's worth. As long as there are no games on the system that make people buy Vita's there won't be any games on the system that make people buy Vitas. Its a very onerous catch-22 for Sony and unfortunate for people who already own Vitas.
No, if you have a Vita you more then likely have a PS3/Xbox. Besides we all wanted on those not Vita.
I'm not too disappointed, I wouldn't play it on my vita hardly ever.
money, potential profit, is the reason don't be fooled. Sure 3ds and Vita infrastructure are "different bests"...umm so are a ps3 and 360 from a 3ds upscaling...I just beat Revelations about two weeks ago and i was thoroughly impressed. Will probably buy for ps3 (just to support more horror oriented future RE games) but i am saddened for fellow vita owners getting shunned. The install base isn't large enough for the seriously injured (from lack of re6 expected sales)Capcom it would seem, it has minimal excuses from a technical perspective why a vita port wouldnt be done.
The VIta hasn't sold many units, and they'd probably have to do a huge rewrite to port it. Really not worth the investment.
Not sure why people are surprised that their niche passion doesn't garner mainstream attention.
At least he could have been honest and said there's no money to be made on the Vita therefore no port is coming to it.
