Sale Of THQ's Back Catalog Happening In Coming Weeks

Many fans have been absolutely devastated to hear that some of THQ's franchises, such as Darksiders, MX vs. ATV, and Red Faction, have yet to find a buyer. But that doesn't mean they're out of luck.

When asked about the future of franchises that weren't sold off in our interview, former president,  Rubin responded, "There will be a separate process to sell off the back catalog and IP. That process will take place in the coming weeks."

It looks like we'll know the fate of these franchises soon, but it's nice to know their fate hasn't entirely been sealed off.

Check out more on our interview with Rubin, where he discusses how passionate his teams were about making these games.

  • I hope this allows Vigils new IP Crawler to come to fruition in some manner.

  • These ip's really need to find some good homes. I would hate to see Darksiders just disappear.
  • Thank God. Whoever buys Darksiders needs to hire the Vigil team back, and give them money to make a true sequel to the first Darksiders. Whoever buys Red Faction needs to fund a true sequel to the original. None of this third person crap.
  • I hope someone buys the Red Faction franchise. It would be a shame if I never get to play another RF game again. A damn shame.
  • Koch Media needs to buy the Red Faction franchise.  I can't think of anyone else working on it besides Volition.

  • It's be awesome if us gamers coul set up a mutual fund to buy one of these franchises. I assume you can do that but I don't see how it could really work. Regardless I don't know how you would Go about that .
  • I want to see another Red Faction game but more in the style of Red Faction on the Playstation. The destructible environments in that game rival some of the AAA titles of today!

  • That's awesome. Can't wait for these games to find a home

  • Grr, I have a feeling that EA or Activision is waiting for this to get a cheaper price. If Darksiders falls into one of those companies' hands then I will have to walk away from a series I love. EA and Activision would make it some copycat action game with required multiplayer and other bullcrap that they pull. I would rather see Darksiders die than be sold to the evil empires....
  • Anyone hella rich? I know no one would want to but you should buy some ip's then whatever money u make for merely owning it u could donate it to whatever developers you want and increase the quality of games as a whole (I know it wouldn't be much and I'm not saying that games are bad at all now but wouldn't it be nice if we didn't have to wait as long as we do for fixes?)

  • sell Darksiders to Platinum games for a dollar. They will make it into the best game ever. I mean, they made the Rising gameplay work when the Konami couldnt even get to.

  • As long as EA or Activicion do not get a hold of them I am happy.

  • This sucks ... I would rather Darksiders not be sold if it ends up with some publisher that wont do it justice. Buy the dev team you cheap ass AAA companies!!
  • No one ever mentions the Summoner games. Does THQ still own them?

I hope someone picks up the Summoner franchise and resurrects it.

Anyone else remember those games? I know newtraditionalist does.

  • My question is where is the Warhammer 40k license going?
  • So Koch/Deep Silver bought Volition and the Saints Row IP, but Red Faction is still up for sale?

So does that mean Koch owns the right to the Saint Row/Red Faction fictional Ultor corporation or will whoever buys the Red Faction IP own the rights to use Ultor Corp?

Volition tied the fictional corporation to both franchises and I can't see two competing publishers share the rights to use Ultor Corp in thier games.

Also, has anyone bought the Destroy All Humans IP?
  • my classmate's aunt makes $60 hourly on the laptop. She has been fired from work for eight months but last month her pay was $21541 just working on the laptop for a few hours. Read more on this site... http://www.jalopink.com.qr.net/j6DP
  • Man, I'm just so sad about Vigil. I really wish someone (Platinum Games or Disney, preferably) would swoop in and purchase them and the Darksiders IP. The team clearly has promise, and there's no denying that the Darksiders IP could make some waves if given the proper resources and manages its budget a little better.
