The Legend Of Zelda: Wind Waker HD Coming To Wii U This Fall

Nintendo acknowledged that it is working on a new Zelda title during its Nintendo Direct conference this morning, but the more exciting news is the full-fledged HD remake of Wind Waker for Wii U coming this Fall.

The game will be playable both on the TV, and off-screen on the Wii U Game Pad, and will have MiiVerse functionality.

In regard to the brand-new Zelda title, series producer Eiji Aonuma said that the mission for the new game is to rethink Zelda's conventions and start fresh.

I was just going to start a Wind Waker play through on my old Wii because it remains the only Zelda game I've never finished. Looks like I will be putting off those plans until Fall :)

Hell yes! I never got to experience Wind Waker the first time around, and I've always wanted to. I'll finally get my chance this Fall, and in HD! :D

My head exploded with all this amazing Nintendo news, it was a great direct to watch, really the first one that made my hear beat faster for a bit lol. Also didn't anyone else get the vibe that the next Zelda game will be open world? They said they were re-thinking the conventions of its' linearility (if that's how it's spelled) so I just assumed HUGE open world Zelda.

As someone who completely missed out on Wind Waker during the GameCube era (because I didn't have one back then) I am beyond excited for the HD remake.

OMG it's beautiful!! OMG it's soooo beautiful... I want to see more, I need to see an HD source in action. OMG. I think I take back what I said yesterday in that Ni No Kuni is how I want all games to look, Wind Waker Wii U is how I want all games too look! Ok maybe not, both are stunning and I'm soooo happy to see more and more games looking like this, to me realism doesn't capture my imagination in the same way as games styled like this.

Hopefully they can get it out over the summer. Wind Waker is the perfect summer game.
