Koch Media Addresses Volition Purchase

One of the biggest franchises in today's THQ brouhaha is Saints Row, and it will be joining the Metro series under the Koch Media/Deep Silver umbrella. The publisher recently sent out a press release welcoming them (and Volition) into the fold.

“These franchises hold a special place in the hearts and minds of anyone who loves exceptional video games,” said Geoff Mulligan, COO of Deep Silver. “We’re thrilled to usher in a new era for these franchises and are proud to welcome the visionaries and talented forces at Volition on board.”

No immediate plans were detailed for the franchises, but Koch Media/Deep Silver stated that they'll roll out more info in the coming months.

  • I hope they dont change much from the original Saints Row games.
  • I just don't think that they're a big enough publisher to give this series what it needs.
  • I don't know what this company is... did they make dead island?
  • I am skeptical about this. Dead Island was ok, and the only reason people really enjoyed it was because of the Zombie elements. I would have preferred Volition go to Warner Bros. (The fan boy in me would have loved an open world DC Comics game) however I will give Deep Silver a chance. Not worried about Metro Last Light though. It looked pretty much finished and 4A will probably find another publisher after Last Light is released.
  • lets just hope the games they make stay great since most games from them ( or at least deep silver) are kinda hit or miss
  • Give them enough time and funding, and Saints Row 4 will rock! Volition did a great job with Saints Row 3 considering the small amount of resources (funding & time) they had to work with, I can't wait to see what they can do when properly led!

  • I don't know about you guys, but with Metro and SR combined it could really put Deep Silver in the big leagues of publishing.

  • it will be the same the group of people at volition that made saints row are now part of deep silver

  • I'm really hoping they do both these series justice. I would hate to see drastic and unnecessary changes. I'm a little skeptical, but I do think they will be able to do some great work!

  • This is a big pick-up for them, kinda surprised Saints Row didn't go to a bigger developer.

  • So long as they can keep Volition funded, there really shouldn't be too much change if any at all to the Saints Row formulae that we have all come to love.

  • Not going to lie, this kinda scares me.

  • Volition is a pretty good studio, just let them do their thing and all should work out.

  • Deep Silver could really deal the hurt if they made Saints Row 4: Zombie Saints. ;-)

  • Change can only mean things will get worse.  I may be sarcastic.

  • Glad both the talent and the franchises are still afloat and seem alive and well after the transition.

  • Its funny reading all these responses concerning the Saints franchise and Metro. Feel like I need to remind everyone that THQ and Volitions problems all started when you guys didnt buy Red Faction Armageddon (Which was a superb game)
  • I'm apprehensive of this. Deep silver is very hit and miss with their games. With hits still being buggy as all heck.
  • Give us back Red Faction!

  • Please take care of the Metro franchise shes so young.
