New 3D Mario & Mario Kart Coming For Wii U

In today's Nintendo Direct presentation, the company whetted gamers' appetites with the announcement of two new Mario titles for the Wii U.

A 3D Mario title (developed by the team behind the Mario Galaxy games) and a new Mario Kart will both be heading to the system.

Furthermore, both of them will be playable at this June's E3 convention.

  • NOW i'm going to buy a wiiU. finally some games i'm excited for!
  • Really haven't been into Mario Kart since 64, but I had some fun with 7 on 3DS, and I bet the visuals will be amazing on it! Also can't wait for the new 3D Mario game, I would definitely take another Galaxy. Galaxy 2 was so good, and I feel like 2 games does NOT do that series justice.
  • I think a new Zelda game tied with this announcement would have gotten me to purchase the system.

A new mario by itself isn't enough for me anymore.

Edit: Holy crap-ah-moly! I just saw the full annoucement and I will bite my words. Will definitely be picking up this system here soon. HD WindWaker....hell yes I'm sold!
  • Sadly... I don't have a Wii U D:
  • I'm more excited about the new 3D Mario game than I am about a new Mario Kart.  I feel like it's been way too long since I played a Mario game that didn't feel like recycled platforming.  I loved New Super Mario Bros. U, but I don't think I'll be 100%-ing that game again any time soon.  Too much of the same gets boring after a while.

  • I hope "playable at E3" = released this year. With Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, LEGO City, Game and Wario, Wind Waker HD, Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, Yoshi Land, and possibly Mario Kart U or a 3D Mario or both, has Nintendo ever published this much console software in 1 year before?

Edit: Holy Crap I forgot Bayonetta 2, I didn't love the first. Thought Vanquish was a lot better PG game, but still, a big release that should sell a few consoles.
  • If they be playable I'm sure they will be released by winter.....which makes me Oh so happy!!!

Although with G4 gone I know no other method to watch E3.....well online obviously just not exactly from which site
  • Man, this morning just keeps getting better and better. First, the news about Wind Waker HD, then a new Yoshi game, and now this. I'm really glad the team behind the two Galaxies are working on this new installment, it's gonna be good!
  • Galaxy 2 is one of my favorite games of all time (and my favorite Mario game), so this is extremely exciting for me. I'm also extremely excited at the prospect of Mario Kart on the Wii U. I want to see how Miiverse and such are integrated with the game. User communities in a Mario Kart game? sign me up!
  • E3 is going to be about their first party games this year it seems.
  • This is the best day ever!!!!!!!!!!!
  • the 3d mario is most likely mario galaxy 3
  • I was expecting this. I'm glad it was finally announced.

  • I'm so excited for these games! Mario Kart 7 was AMAZING so Mario Kart Wii U should only be so much better (especially with the GamePad and Miiverse). The new 3D Mario game also is awesome! An HD Super Mario Galaxy 3 with GamePad and Miiverse support would be EPIC! I am kind of sad that Metroid, Star Fox, and F-Zero wasn't announced, though...
  • my friend's step-sister makes $68/hour on the laptop. She has been fired from work for 10 months but last month her income was $14125 just working on the laptop for a few hours. Here's the site to read more..http://tiny.cc/emcdrw
  • Go Nintendo, giving the players what they want. Another Super Mario Galaxy will not disappoint.

  • What a new 3D Mario and Mario cart. Im shocked.

  • Man, Nintendo is rolling out a lot of high quality games in support of their new system such as the two in this article. I am definitely going to have to buy a Wii U soon. Still looking for more information about the next Super Smash Bros. game though.
  • The WiiU is more promising every day. I'll have one by the end of the year.

  • I think Nintendo needs to announce as many big games as they can leading up to E3. With both Microsoft and Sony potentially announcing their next consoles, a lot of the attention will be focused on them. I think the only way that Nintendo can possibly counter the avalanche of press coverage that Microsoft and Sony is gonna get is by showing off as many AAA titles as they can at the show.
