Warhammer 40,000's Ultramarines To Battle

Anchor Bay Entertainment is getting set to release Ultramarines, a CGI animated film based on some of the toughest soldiers in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

The movie comes out on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital download on March 5, and features the voice acting of acclaimed actors like Terence Stamp and John Hurt.

Ultramarines tells the tale of a group of space marines who find themselves in a heap of trouble after they respond to a distant planet's distress call.

  • I am looking forward to this. Been a big fan of 40k sine I was ten. First, count it!
  • I heard about this while ago when they started making it and was really excited about it... but until now I had completely forgotten about it. I'm definitely going to watch it.

  • I never really got into 40k, but I got into the Angry Marines fan storys. Maybe this will be a good chance to dive in and see what the hubbub is about :)

Edit: Just watched the trailer again and realized Sean Pertwee, one of my favorite actors is in this movie. Definitely seeing it!
  • I saw this a few years ago. It's cool if you're not into 40k, but if you know a lot about 40k... Don't set your expectations too high.

  • I think this actually looks pretty awesome. Wish they made some more games though.

  • Reminds me of the intro to Fallout Tactics.

  • The pic on the front page makes me think we should have a Lego Space Marines game
  • Great Imperial Guard > Lame Space Marines
  • It is a fun little Fluff piece. If you're looking for accuracy in the WH40k universe I'd look else where thou. There are Astartes getting killed with single bolter rounds, and all sorts of inconsistencies. If you can get over that it is worth a little over an hour of your time: some solid future-fantasy.
  • Actually this came out sometime last year. Maybe it was a digital release only, but I've watched my digital copy several times.

  • The CGI actually looks bad. That's surprising considering it's a CGI film.
  • That looked absolutely terrible.

  • Cool. I  like 40k.

  • Bad 90's cg...?

  • Sweet. Look like Cybermen lol.

  • Not too interested.

  • This looks like PS1 Legend of dragoon CGIs.  On second thought, LoD CGI is better haha.  I love 40k, but this is horrible looking.

  • I became a Warhammer 40k fan when I picked up a cheesey sounding 40k book called: The Space Wolf Omnibus. I was in the army and needed a big book to keep me busy during down time when I was on a deployment and this book was HUGE. The more I read the more I enjoyed it. I had a passing familiarity with Warhammer from my tabletop gaming days event though I never really played any of the games or read any books but this book made me a fan and I branched out from the 40k universe and started reading a few of the fantasy Warhammer book. Anyway, while I was reading the 40k book I kept thinking how cool this would be as an animated movie, I don't think live action could do justice to the sheer awesomeness of the Space Marines, especially the ever popular "chain-sword". Needless to say, I' excited for this.

  • Didn't John Hurt get an Oscar at some point? What is he doing slumming it in a trash piece like this?
  • I am actually excited for this I read a lot of 40k I hope it turns out to be a good movie
