Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon Has Some Kind Of Local Multiplayer

According to Nintendo's official Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon website, the game has some kind of multiplayer.

The listing on the right rail of the site still lists the game as a single-player game, but the description says, "With so many new places to explore, all new ways to capture ghosts, and a brand new local multiplayer mode, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon is another star turn for Mario's heroic brother—and it's only on Nintendo 3DS. "

Could it be something similar to the Luigi's Mansion game featured in Nintendo Land for the Wii U? The description calls it "brand new" so that seems unlikely.

  • I hate it when Nintendo has these as Local only...
  • Oh. . . interesting. Betcha Nintendo Land definitely had something up its sleeve with Ghost Hunt. . . Wonder if any other Nintendo characters could be involved. . .

  • Hmm, the ghost with sunglasses is interesting. I'm guessing he won't be affected by the flashlight, so I wonder how you catch him...
  • Awesome!

  • It would be so cool if my bro and I got it and could play it together. One player would be Luigi, and the other would be Mario.
  • That's good. I had planned on getting this game when it comes out.
  • C'mon Nintendo, only Local Multiplayer? Doesn't this system is a powerhouse?
  • As someone who never got a chance to play the original game, I'm definitely looking forward to giving this a shot. That is, until Pokemon X & Y come out.

  • Can't wait for this to come out, though I couldn't care less about some tacked-on multiplayer mode. Still, I guess it will be a nice bonus, as long as the single player portion is as long and good as the firt Luigi's Mansion.

  • Mario, now whose the sidekick b*tch! :P

  • *** them for only making it handheld exclusive -_- Been waiting for a proper sequel to the amazing Luigi's Mansion on the GC. Tired of great titles/franchises being confined to handhelds....it's possible to have it on both systems. Then again given the continued rise of PC and consoles...handhelds seem barebones, so how else can they try to keep attractive.
  • I'm excited to see what it is

  • Wait, who will be Luigi's sidekick then?
  • Hmm... Well.

  • sigh. . . that's one thing I hate about Nintendo. If you're gonna do any form of multi, a must is online. Well for me that is. Mainly because of this: not everyone has a 3DS/Wii U so local multi will be useless for me. Personally I'd like local and online multi for games that they choose to add such modes to.
  • Let the anti-multiplayer raging begin... you know it's coming. Metro, Dead Space, Resident Evil, Bioshock, even Luigi's Mansion -- they're gonna complain without playing it until the cows come home.

  • I don't know, I think it means "brand new" to the Luigi's Mansion series. Since the Ghost game on Nintendo Land (don't know the title, haven't touched it since I got my Wii U) was more of a spinoff, I would think it would have to be similar. Perhaps an asynchronous multiplayer mode where friends become ghosts to infest the game. Who knows.

  • What? Like Ghostbusters? lol

  • I'd actually like to see something along the lines of ZombiU multiplayer. Player One controls Luigi. Another player(s) spawns different types of ghosts, trying their best to defeat Luigi, while the person controlling Luigi has to survive as long as possible. You could even give the spawning player different types of ghosts to experiment with depending on which mansion you're in.

It doesn't have to be the sole multiplayer option, but I think it could be pretty fun. It was in ZombiU.
