The lights are on
Tucked away at the bottom of a recent Halo Waypoint news post is the unfortunate news that Halo 2's PC multiplayer servers are going down in February.
The PC version of Halo 2 released back in 2007, three years after the Xbox version of Halo 2. The servers are officially shutting down on February 15. One of the reasons the servers are going down is that in the last few months the number of players has been capping out at only 20 or fewer, so it's not hard to understand why they're going down.

I was actually planning on being person number 21 about a month ago, then realized my computer was a lot worse than I thought it was.
I guess I'll never be the 21st.
It's not surprising at all because it's a old game with not enough players. Sorry to those 20 players though.
Well, they did last long enough, but darn...
i'm sure someone will make an unofficial server of some sort like other games get. still sucks tho for those ppl that still play.
You'd think whatever hamsters were running these old servers would've collapsed by now
Didnt know it was even still up
I wish they could still play. Cuz Halo 2 is amazing and Halo 4 was absolutely terrible!
Sad to see it go this game is definitly the best Halo MP experience.
Shame I never had an original X-Box, but we salute ya Master Chief of yester-year. At least Halo 4's gonna help fill the void.
surprised they kept it up for that long. Makes sense that they would take the servers down
What's with everyone saying only 20 people played it? It's 25, 30 tops.
I was actually one of the last remaining players of the original xbox live for halo2 when it went down. May halo2 be in all of our hearts for those veterans out there and anybody else forever
Map pack for Halo 4 maybe???
there are 5 other halos..
