Mod Turns Half-Life Into A Dragon Ball Z Fighting Game

It's a strange match, using the original Half-Life's engine to create a fan-made Dragon Ball Z fighting game, but it looks like it works.

Screenshots for the mod show an impressive collection of characters, both obscure and popular, and they are all apparently equipped with signature moves. You can check out a trailer for the mod in action below, and you can head here to download it and play it yourself.

  • Sweet! Get Ben Hanson on this for a Test Chamber!

  • Lol what the hell?

  • looks a lot better than anything bandai atari has put out since budokai 3
  • Cool but weird. Definitely weird.

  • It's nothing new. It's in development for years. And it's amazing what the team has achieved.
  • Goku looks like he has a giant rack in that top screenshot.
  • Cool, but I can't imagine it works as good as it looks.

  • Wow. This is awesome.

Downloading this tonight at some point. :)
  • Awesome!

EDIT: unfortunately the edition shown in the trailer isn't available.
  • And older version of this has been out for a really long time...
  • No motion controls? Sold!

  • Namek looks good but something seems off with the characters. It seems like they dont fit into the world the around dim.
  • But does the game make you wait through 3 hours of talk before you can actually fight? If not then it is not a true DBZ mod/game.
  • How bad is it that I might purchase Half-Life just for this? haha

  • It's called Earth's Special Forces, and it's been out for over a decade.

If you're interested in other great Half-Life mods, there's Natural Selection (which has a standalone sequel now on Steam), which is pretty much Aliens as a FPS/RTS hybrid, The Specialists, an amalgamation of every great 80s/90s action movie, and Sven Co-op, which recycles elements from Half-Life but lets you play co-op.
  • This looks pretty great! I'm always amazed at what people can do with Half-Life's engine.
  • I've seen this on a couple of sites this morning...and I've seen folks pointing out this is apparently a pretty old mod. Why the sudden interest? Is this a finished version of something that's been in development for some many years? Regardless, I'm going to try this out!
  • this....is so....EPIC!!!!

  • can never go wrong with dragonball
