Square Bringing Final Fantasy: All The Bravest To iOS Tomorrow

Apple owners looking for an old-school Final Fantasy experience will be excited to learn that the company is bringing a classic-style RPG to the iPhone and iPad tomorrow.

Yesterday's tease has lead to today's announcement about, Final Fantasy: All the Bravest, is a new adventure that features many of the features and gameplay formulas that FF fans know and love. According to this description on the New Zealand iTunes store the game's combat is "based on the classic Active Time Battle (ATB) system of the Final Fantasy series. Every character possesses an ATB gauge that displays the time remaining until that character can execute an action. When the gauge is full, simply tap or drag your finger over the character to attack. Touch multiple characters in quick succession to experience exhilarating and fast-paced battle unlike anything you’ve ever played before!"

There will be over 20 different jobs, including favorites like warrior, monk, and red mage. To increase the classic vibe, there will also be over 30 musical tracks that longtime fans of the FF series will recognize. It will also feature global leaderboards, achievements, and an in-game shop that will allow you to purchase 35 new characters from past FF games and, eventually, entire new stages of the game.

Right now, the game is listed in New Zealand for $5.29, which converts to $4.25 in U.S. dollars.

  • is this the big news?
  • This game looks crazy. Too bad it's only for iOS...people who don't have fancy devices that run the OS want to play these games too!
  • Nice!  This looks like it has some potential.  I do notice an unerving number of Black Mages in that picture though...

  • well that's a nice surprise! It would be lovely to see this FF title migrate to the vita in the near future.

  • it will probably be $4.99 - $6.99 here in the states... even though it should be $4.25 but it won't fly that way

  • This is disappointing. I was hoping that "All the Bravest" was Square Enix renaming the amazing looking 3DS RPG Bravely Default Flying Fairy for its NA localization. Come on Square. Give us a chance to buy your software on something other than a smart phone please.
  • Sweet.

  • oh look. another iOS game. yay.......

really wish they would consider bringing these to other handhelds. 3DS and Vita could sure use a retro style FF game.
  • I read the description, expected one thing, and then a completely different thing from the video. That looks crazy. Does make it seem more like a mini-game than an actual RPG, though. Guess it doesn't matter, as I don't own an i device. Ah well... So this is their big news, since it releases '1:17'? I suppose that's cool that it's an original game... not really what I was hoping for though.
  • ios sucks
  • Nice! at least this one isn't 20$! Major win!
  • Am I the only long time Final Fantasy fan that looks at this and thinks "WTF!?" This looks like garbage, no matter how you present it. Thank you Square-Enix for getting my hopes up for something cool and giving me disappointment again.
  • So you have teams that you use to attack in succession? Thats kind of interesting, it looks like they zoomed out on the classic ATB system and made it more about strategy. I might look into this for my iPad. I don't however like the idea of an in-game shop, for classic characters. I would rather there be a way to unlock them in the main game.
Can we get an impression or review of this when it comes out please?
  • I was right! A new 16-bit title! Too bad Apple blows, and thus I don't own one.
  • seen this earlier .. looks intresting but idk if i wanna control so many characters at once on a small screen :/  it did remind me about the existance of demensions or whatever the episodic ios 1 was call ... maybe i'll give that a go

  • i'm sorry, but this... actually looks pretty awesome. i can't believe i'm praising square >_>.

  • Looks like I called it wrong :O That feels good sometimes. I was really proud of Square for a second, too, because that's a tiny fraction of their usual sale price for FF related iOS releases. Then I read the fine print and they're still going to get up there with character related in-app purchases. So almost, but still! That said, I think I'll pass. I think I'd have preferred yet another remake of FFVI.
  • No way, there's gotta be a catch, like every job costing .99 or new character packs at 4.99 each.

This does not sound like Square Enix at all

  • This looks insane, by which I mean I want it so bad. I'm just bummed that it's only going to iOS. I did call it though, it combines elements from old Final Fantasy games to create a new (although looking to be a rehash of old games in a way) experience. I really hope they bring some form of this to another platform.
