Unreal Environmental Artist Imagines A Current-Gen Pokémon Center

Talented environmental artist Even Liaw has posted a series of images of a Pokémon Center he has created using the Unreal development engine.

It's Liaw's take on what a Pokémon Center might look like if it existed on a current generation console. You see the full gallery by checking out Liaw's website.

  • Reminds me of Black Mesa for some reason.
  • wow, pretty high tech, looks cool.

  • Looks like Pokemon meets Mass Effect
  • This is... Incredible.
  • This is a place I'd be willing to take my Pokemon to

  • I would instantly buy a Wii U if they gave me a console Pokemon game. They would be taking their games to a whole other level if they made something like this.
  • If only if only

  • Give me a realistic Pokemon game lie that, and I'd play it for weeks and not be ashamed to admit it.
  • This needs to become a game, pronto.

  • I am now imagining a Pokemon game that looks like the rest of that room and it's amazing...

  • That's really impressive.

  • Take note Nintendo. Make this. Make this happen. Now.
  • Charmeleon is still a cartoon! lol!
  • OH MY GOD!! This is pretty amazing I would love a Pokemon game with Unreal engine.

  • Sweet.

  • I wish they'd really make it an online MMO and also go for the realistic approach in designing the pokémon, similar to those concepts seen on deviant art:

They could make it so there is crossplay between the 3DS games and the Wii U, so you could challenge your friends locally and trade with them. When you'd transfer your pokémon to the other platform it would change its cartoony look to the realistic HD look. They could also link their merchandise to the game through NFC.
This sure would be the most successful game in Nintendo history!!!
It also wouldn't undermine Pokémon's handheld legacy as it would target an entirely different audience that prefers playing online. As players grow older they simply don't find as many opportunities to meet up with their friends to play pokémon on the go, this more mature audience is also more likely to prefer a more detailed realistic look over the cartoony one.
So yes, I really think it would make sense to make this game a thing, and distinguish it from its handheld-brother.
  • Looks like crap!! It has none of the Pokemon charm.
  • At first, I thought that was real.
  • Where is our High Definition 3D open world game Nintendo? Awesome art thought.
  • This is amazing. Love talented people that use their minds correctly
