The lights are on
The Sony Entertainment Network, the brower-based form of the PlayStation Network, is up and running in the U.S. Just head over to the site, sign in with your PSN ID, and you can start buying games, movies, and other entertainment content. There's a sale on some games like The Unfinished Swan and LittleBigPlanet Karting going on right now.
Sony's online program has grown in fits and starts, and the news is that the company is planning a browser-based store that wil eventually let you purchase content and download it to your PS3 and Vita.
In a CNET interview, Shawn Layden, COO of Sony Network Entertainment, says that a U.S. SNE browser-based store is in the works and should come out this month. CNET reports that the online store front will let you purchase and download content from this browser, and "eventually" have it automatically download to your PS3. Why this key feature isn't available from the start isn't clear.
Currently, Sony Network Entertainment has a European store browser with this feature up and running.

When a friend gave me his PS3 8 months ago I was looking for a browser PSN store.
I'd say its about five years late.
Neat little feature but I don't see myself using it all that much.
This would be a very helpful feature. I would hope it would include the next-gen Sony console as well.
It didn't have that already? Better late than never I guess. But this makes it seem like Sony's not too keen on turning their system into a more digitally-oriented powerhouse.
I could care less about having te store available from te browser .
I could have sworn there were major restrictions on the Microsoft browser store.
I mean I will probably go through my ps3 to make my ps3 oriented downloadable purchases.
It is a nice feature but I will probably never use said feature.
There should be an app so u could use the store from your iPhone or android device.
Its SEN not SNE
I hate the new Playstation Store. It takes forever to get where you need to go but maybe once all these new additions are made I'll like it and see why 360 fans love LIVE so much.
I can't wait for the whole thing to get working, but it's nice to think that this'll be available for the next PlayStation around launch.
This will be very handy. Especially for those times when i'm traveling and can't take advantage of a sale on the PSN.
Finally Sony is getting this feature. Now how long do we have to wait till we can automatically download to our PS3?
Ha about time really, when I got my PS3 I was mildly disappointed to see that I couldn't do this. Having a slow internet connection is bad enough without having to find it then download lol. Here's hoping they set it up like they do on the console, I love that format.
