The lights are on
Catching 'em all is certainly a big part of the Pokémon lineage, but even the most successful trainer starts small. The October release of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y seems far away, but it's not too early to start planning. For instance, which of the three starter creatures are you going to be picking?
The three Pokémon below fall under the reliable fire-, water-, and grass-type starter templates. It's tough to analyze them from just the images below, but the fact that Froakie is one of the three candidates it much easier. Froakie it is.
What do you think? Do any of these guys jump out at you?

Did Mudkip look that great when ruby and sapphire came out? To me, no, but now it and its evolutions are my favorite pokemon in the game. Don't put them down solely based off of the first look. I am a hopeful pokemon fan, and I believe that at least one of these starters will eventually have a fan following.
When this does come out I'll most likely go with Chespin, I've always used Grass types as my starters. Can't wait to see the evolutions :D
I'm going with Water. I really don't like how Chespin looks almost like Oshawott but green and with a hat.
I kinda like the new fire starter...its no charmander but its the only nice one out of these new ones.
Of all of these, Fennekin looks cutest to me. Its name sounds like a nickname that a fangirl would to give Fenris from Dragon Age II. XD
Yeah, I'm with everybody else here. They're running out of steam. The last good Gen was 3. Gen 4 had some welcome additions (did it really take that long to get Glaceon & Leafeon?), and there were about four or five new ones in Gen 5 I liked. Not expecting much good from Gen 6.
I do like Fennekin's look. But I've always liked Vulpix, anyhow. :P

Wow, after the last 2 sets of terrible starters I'm surprised to say I love all 3 of these new designs. Especially Froakie and Chespin. All 3 seem like they're gonna have awesome evolutions as well.
i like how Froakie looks but since my lil brother wants him ill get get Fennekin since i dont want to copy
Chespin and Fennekin look really reminiscent of a lot of Pokemon I've seen before. The Froakie is interesting though.
I'll have to go with Fennikin, fire type is always my favorite.
They ran out of ideas for new Pokemon years ago. This game cannot be improved by yet another hundred random monsters.
I think they look great! much better than the 4th and 5th gen starters IMHO. Froakie and I all the way! but now i have to buy a 3ds :(
