The lights are on
Catching 'em all is certainly a big part of the Pokémon lineage, but even the most successful trainer starts small. The October release of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y seems far away, but it's not too early to start planning. For instance, which of the three starter creatures are you going to be picking?
The three Pokémon below fall under the reliable fire-, water-, and grass-type starter templates. It's tough to analyze them from just the images below, but the fact that Froakie is one of the three candidates it much easier. Froakie it is.
What do you think? Do any of these guys jump out at you?
Look for Pokémon X and Pokémon Y on the 3DS this October.

For the first time in our lives, the cartoon what we wanted to live so badly is starting to come forth. This is just the beginning of somthing great.
They don't look half bad, but I'll always base everything off the Gen 1 starters that I grew up with.
OMG Yes! Generation 6 coming our way!
You're trying to tell me you ran out of colors? The starter pokemon look to similar to old pokemon, the first one looks like a mudkip turned into a frog, the second one looks like the weasel one with a hat on, third one is the most original of all, somewhat evee like. Might be running out of ideas pokemon wise.
I'm gonna choose froakie anyway since its a water type but fennkin looks so cute!
Not sure how I feel about Chespin, I like the other two though. MUST SEE EVOLUTIONS!
The designs look too busy to me, like the creator was trying to make them too original or that if they left a blank spot they wouldn't look interesting. But I'd say that the most interesting designs of Pokemon come from their core, not their embellishments. The neck-thing, the hat-thing, and the ear-things are unnecessary to me but hey, Gen 6 is on its way baby!
Another Pokemon game, another waste of time.... KIDDING! I've never wanted to buy the 3DS but this has me sold. Sure, the starters look weird, but they always do when they first come out. Hell, I couldn't get used to Piplup until a week after playing. Welcome, new starters!
Fennekin, think me and him gona get on just fine.
I wonder what the final evolutions look like for these guys, but if I had to chose I mean I never chosen a grass starter because they always look odd to me but Chespin would be my first choice.
@ 00:38-00:39. We got a badass over here.
I always start with fire types so Fennekin it is. But Froakie is cute so I know who my second playthrough will be with. Honestly, I like these starter Pokemon. The ones from last gen were...not very impressive.
I want.. Fennekin!
