Catching 'em all is certainly a big part of the Pokémon lineage, but even the most successful trainer starts small. The October release of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y seems far away, but it's not too early to start planning. For instance, which of the three starter creatures are you going to be picking?

The three Pokémon below fall under the reliable fire-, water-, and grass-type starter templates. It's tough to analyze them from just the images below, but the fact that Froakie is one of the three candidates it much easier. Froakie it is.

What do you think? Do any of these guys jump out at you?

Look for Pokémon X and Pokémon Y on the 3DS this October.

I'm not a big fan of any of the starters, but I've always gone with the fire type, and that probably won't change this time.

befor any one complains about the names of the games. think about it they really dont have much choice. they need two names that relate to each other and are opposites. red-blue black-white gold-silver. X and Y fit that perfectly [diamond and Perl make no sense] not much else would sound less stupid salt and pepper? up down?. also they are finally updating the battle system graphics, that is something i have been waiting for for a long time.

Well... After looking at all three... I think I'll be choosing the cute little Firefox! Besides! Ever since I got back into Pokemon with Pokemon Platinum I never once chose a fire starter. Also I think I'll make mine a female (for obvious reasons heh heh) I can't wait to see there evolved forms maybe Fennigan's (the fire starter) final evo will be a huminoid fox! If that's the case then I'll see to it that were more than just friends!

Remember how awesome Pokemon used to be back in the early days? Red, Blue and Yellow? Pikachu, Squirtle, Charmander and Bulbasaur beat the *** outta these derpy, huge-eyed little furballs. I feel like every generation these creatures get more and more lamer.

It's official, Pokemon black is the last pokemon I'm buying. These are the worst ones I've seen so far. We have seen all of these before they were just different elemental types.

Wow... these look even worse than the last gen unbelievably (and that's saying something, it's pretty hard to beat that snake thing). The name is also a bit stupid too, I guess they ran out of colors and gemstones. Still, they could have gone with amythest or amber. Those sound a tad less stupid.

I usually go with the fire starter, but Fennekin is too cute for my liking haha. I will probably go with Froakie, but I will wait to see what their evolutions look like.
