Redesigned Crash Bandicoot Spotted In Vicarious Visions Studio Photo

Update: Vicarious Visions has deleted the photo featuring the mysterious new Crash Bandicoot from its facebook page. Does it mean anything? Or are we reading into it a little bit too much?

Thanks to to JB for pointing out the evaporating photo!

-------------------------

A photo posted on Vicarious Vision's official facebook page of the studio's third annual Game Jam has a poster on the wall that appears to feature a redesigned Crash Bandicoot.

Facebook commenters on the photo pointed out Crash immediately, and NeoGAF user TimmiT posted the image on the message boards. This could be a redesigned Crash for a new game, but it's also possible that Sony's former mascot could be making a cameo in Skylanders, a series Vicarious Visions has helped port to assorted consoles. It could also be a past version of Crash Bandicoot that I simply don't recognize.

What do you think it is?

  • After you mentioning it could be a Skylanders cameo, that is what I think it probably is. It seems to be in a similar art style to that.

  • I hope another game is on the way. But why us that guy from the '80s standing next to the poster

  • looks terrible

  • Maybe all stars dlc?
  • They have lots of hand sanitizer.

  • I think this is for Skylanders

  • The funniest thing about that picture (top) is that guy's cheezy mustache lol
  • Where one character design rages dies... another one is born. This, is the circle of life.

  • Looks awful. I´m so sorry Crash. First Spyro and now this.

  • He looks like a baby Crash with abs. It's a little disconcerting.

  • EW! he looks like crap! What have they done to you Crash?

  • Yeah, that's Skylanders.

The fact that he looks like hes on a pedestal pretty much makes that the most likely choice.

  • game devs have tons of old ass artwork hangaround on there walls most of it is never used.

We got a ton of old ass artwork from killed games and ideas we never use at our office.

It's was a probabley"pitch poster" what you bring in to show the suits to see if they like the final idea and you really want to blow them away with a fancy reveal of something. then everybody stands next to the thing and starts telling them how the game is going to go then the suits tell you what they hate.

or a promo poster for e3 for a killed game that never made the light of day.

the poster has a subtitle Crash something so it looks like a standalone game.

Hell fricking rare had an entire life sized statue made of the old Dinosaur planet character before it was changed to starfox hanging around in the lobby for years it might still be there and character was never used in a public video game ever.

means almost nothing and they would blur it out if they care anybody seen it unless they screwed up.
  • Is That a new Brutal Legends redesign on the left?

  • They better not. I hate how Crash Bandicoot looks now. Seriously, Mind over Mutant and Crash of the Titans ruined how Crash looked as well as all the other characters. This new look looks even worst then what he is now. Activision has killed Crash for me. The only good part is he fact that at least he has his gloves back.
  • I played it on the first PS. I don't like that design at all.

  • I really dig that guy's 1983 look.

  • Looks like the Spyro remodeling for Skylanders.

  • Why are his hands the same size as his body :'(
  • Crash Bandicoot was the beginning of my gaming love. Tons of the games are in my favorites of all time. After his last redesign, I can't take another sucky Crash game... Still waiting for him in Playstation All-Stars...
