Luke Skywalker's Severed Hand Is For Sale

It might not be real, but the price on eBay certainly makes it seem like it could be.

Apparently, when Mark Hamill's hand was getting cast in plaster for the famous scene where, spoiler alert, Darth Vader cuts off his hand, they accidentally made a mold of Hamill's left hand, when it should have been his right. Supposedly this is the unused plaster mold of his left hand that was never used. This is all according to the eBay description, and could of course be a total fabrication, but if it's not it's a cool, albeit expensive, piece of cinema history. It can be yours today for only $8,500.

  • That picture just screams "I'm meeeeeeeelllllltttiiiiiing!"

  • What a lousy hand job.
  • Think of the many useful home applications... remote keeper, pasta measuring, t.p. caddy, cat toy, back scratcher, Adams Family costume contest, I'm on the way to BID cause life would be incomplete without Mark Hamills left hand.

  • But if it was a mistake prop and it was never actually used for or in the movie, how much could it actually be worth? I mean, to me it seems like this has the same value as a prop lightsaber that never made it on screen, which would sell for about $800-$1000 from what I understand. Hell, one of Luke's prop lightsabers from Empire Strikes Back that was actually used in the movie only sold for about $7,500. Sure, this is probably worth something to someone, but I don't think $8,500. Then again, it's Star Wars, so maybe I'm way off.
  • so wait... this is the unused plaster mold... AND it was never used? I thought the price was exorbitant until I realized the item boasted TWO levels of non-use
  • I've never heard about such a mold, but it seems plausible. More plausible than me finding eight thousand bucks behind the couch anyway:P

  • I'm calling shenanigans.
  • What people will spind their money on these days....
  • Seems a bit odd to me that in such a key sequence in the movie they would make a cast of the wrong hand.
  • Not the best severed hand I've seen.

  • Lol, nice. It could be real, but who knows.
  • Too bad anyone could have made one.

  • no thanks...

  • That'd be nice to have for like $50 maybe. I'd rather get a new car

  • Yeah! That price is totally worth a piece of plastic!

  • That's not real! That's impossible!
  • I wish I had $8,500 to spend on whatever I wanted.

  • Ohhh ok it was his left hand here. Because I could swear I've seen the real copy of the right hand in a museum exhibit for movie props.

  • $8,500? Seems legit
