The lights are on
It is now officially 2013, so let's begin the speculation about the rest of the year. Will we see new consoles from Sony and Microsoft?
The Xbox 360 released in November 2005, and the PlayStation 3 in November 2006. Are eight and seven years a long enough life cycle for home consoles? Or would you like to hold out a little bit longer? And how does the Wii U fit into all this? And when will the PlayStation 9 release? Maybe Sony will skip four, five, six, seven, and eight, and go straight to nine to save on marketing. They can just reuse the commercial below.

I don't think they'll release this year but I think that they'll definitely show them at E3 this year. I'm also intrested to see if Valve will be bringing out a console.
It's like crack, or acid. It's not a console, it's a drug!
A new Xbox sounds great, and I cant wait for it and the new features is has, but please be for a 2014 release. I was planning on buying another xbox soon, and I want to at least use it for another year.
That would kind of stupid since alot of the that are coming soon are going to be on play station 3 anyway
I would not mind seeing Microsoft hold out another year with all that they have coming out and seeing how they have been really successful and continue to rule the game industry they should wait. Im still not done having fun with all great titles on the 360 yet, along with 99% of xbox fans. But all these people talking about how this wiiu is a new "big" hit (ha!) I think they are wrong with even thinking the wiiu may pass ps3, but xbox can continue to just come out with good titles and put the wii to rest. With all that said even having them coming out with new systems would be nice, just to jump start a new series of gaming. Im just hopeing xbox does not go too strong on the Kinect. I like my controllers.
It's been a great run with the XBOX 360!!! Now is Microsoft and Sony's chance to define the next level of on-line and off-line gaming.... I've always been a Microsoft fan on the console side of things and a Sony fan on the handheld side. So I'm looking forward to seeing what each company does with the future markets of console and handheld gaming. Truth be told the XBOX 360 still has a lot of potential and they're going to have to keep us all on LIVE as the 720's filter through their current user base.
So with games like Destiny which are rumored to be 360 and 720 cross compatible on LIVE. Or the way they've integrated Beacons into FaceBook and the like to keep you aware of what people are playing and talking about. To the fact that Microsoft bought Skype and is rumored to be integrating it into LIVE the same way it's already integrated into the PSPGo and PSVita. It'll be interesting to see all the custom setups people have had to come up with to Skype while they game by replaced by a single XBOX!!! ^_^
Hold it for next year, dudes. My pockets are empty as is.....How about next year.....Hopefully my pockets will be a little heavier.
*COUGH*OUYA*COUGH* But I think we'll see new consoles from MS and Sony. I knew Sony was going to release this year (They HAVE to release before the Durango), and I was thinking maybe 2014 for the Durango, but the Wii U's launch is making me think the Durango is on the way.
Too soon...The only reason they want to is to compete with wiiu.
