Reader Discussion: Will We See New Consoles This Year?
It is now officially 2013, so let's begin the speculation about the rest of the year. Will we see new consoles from Sony and Microsoft?
The Xbox 360 released in November 2005, and the PlayStation 3 in November 2006. Are eight and seven years a long enough life cycle for home consoles? Or would you like to hold out a little bit longer? And how does the Wii U fit into all this? And when will the PlayStation 9 release? Maybe Sony will skip four, five, six, seven, and eight, and go straight to nine to save on marketing. They can just reuse the commercial below.
