Take A Deeper BioShock Dive In The Ultimate Rapture Edition

Maybe you're a little rusty on your BioShock lore. Perhaps you're looking for a refresher before BioShock Infinite's March release. Or  gasp  you've never played Irrational's critically acclaimed game and its follow-up. Whatever your motivation, 2K Games has announced that it's releasing the BioShock: Ultimate Rapture Edition, a budget-priced bundle that includes the first two games and more.

We'd heard rumblings about this one months ago, but now it's official. In addition to the pair of games, 2K says the Ultimate Rapture Edition includes a host of add-on content:

  • Plasmids Pack: Includes four additional Plasmids and Gene Tonics – Sonic Boom, EVE Saver, Vending Expert and Machine Buster – for use in BioShock.
  • Challenge Rooms Pack: Previously exclusive to PS3 and now available for Xbox 360 for the first time, the pack tests the player’s mettle by requiring them to utilize the skills learned while traversing the halls of Rapture to survive three separate puzzle rooms in BioShock.
  • Sinclair Solutions Tester: Contains a number of customization features that allow players to further their character’s development in BioShock 2 multiplayer modes and provides a deeper multiplayer experience.
  • Rapture Metro: Includes six additional multiplayer maps, an additional multiplayer gameplay mode and a rank increase to level 50 for BioShock 2 multiplayer.
  • The Protector Trials: Features frantic combat and fast-paced action designed to push players’ mastery of weapons and Plasmids in a BioShock 2 single-player experience spread across six maps.
  • Minerva’s Den: A substantial narrative experience that puts players in the role Subject Sigma and introduces new characters, locations and mystery to the world of Rapture in BioShock 2. Set in a new environment, Rapture Central Computing, Minerva’s Den adds a gripping new storyline to extend the BioShock 2 experience.
The $29.99 bundle also includes the Museum of Orphaned Concepts, an in-game museum that shows off concept and character art. If that's not enough, you'll also get a BioShock Infinite sticker pack. You know, for sticking. It's due out on the PS3 and Xbox 360 January 14.

  • Eh, too late for me.  Like usual.

  • I assume this is for those wanting to experience the series before Infinite comes out. Bioshock is a great game and well worth a play through.
  • Cool. For anyone who hasn't played the games yet. The new additions intrigue me.

March 26th will be a great day to be a gamer.

  • does anyone know where it can be purchased? i have already looked on amazon and it is decidedly absent. the google machine offers no help either.

    HELP!

    must...have...stickers...

edit: there is now a listing on amazon!
  • Hmmm...I just may have to check this out.  I always wanted to play Bioshock, but never got into the games. $29.99 for both games plus add ons just may force my hand.

  • i came for the games, but i stayed for the stickers.

  • I never understood that story that was told in an episode of Replay about a few GI editors boycotting Bioshock 2. Why the hell would you boycott the sequel of a game that most everyone loved?
  • *looks at my father* BREAK OUT CHO WALLET DADDY IMMA BREAK DA BANK!!!! Wait a minute.... its only $30..... *looks back at father* Nevermind.
  • I would love to play these again.

  • i a, thrilled about this because I have yet to play the Bioshock series despite being very excited for the release of Infinite. Honestly I've been almost afraid of Bioshock based on how dark and atmospheric it all is. I guess I'll have to man up and make it though.

  • You're kidding me!?!  I just bought the first Bioshock last week...  This is like when I bought Oblivion and the 5 year anniversary edition was revealed the next week

  • I haven't played any of them(well i rented the first one before) I am going to get this.

  • Plz tell me there is a PC Version as well some time in the future...
  • Hmmm... I already have Bioshock 2, but only on PC (where we got the Protector Trials for free). I like the idea of getting the first two with all their DLC. Might consider this.
  • Meanwhile Steam has them for 5 dollars each.
  • Very cool bundle for Bioshock 1 & 2. Even though I own and played both games, I might still pick it up.

  • I've been finding out that these bundles are the way to go. If you can have some patience you can get all the games for way cheaper with all the DLC. I did this with Saints Row 3rd on Steam, Grand Theft Auto IV, and Darksiders. Just finished Saints Row which was really really great, and Grand Theft Auto which was pretty good as well. I hope Darksiders is just as good, so far it just seems like a Zelda clone. I will definitely be getting this though (just realized they are $5 a piece on Stame right now, will probably get that), and if I hadn't already played all the Mass Effect games to the fullest I would get that bundle too. I really like the way companies are starting to bundle things up.

  • thats a really good deal

  • Ooh, and this also probably means more people trying the multiplayer. It'll be nice to see some newbies come around.
