James Bond Licensed Games Removed From Steam

The recently released 007 Legends as well as the past Bond titles Quantum of Solace and Blood Stone have all inexplicably disappeared from Steam and Activision's online download store.

Activision has yet to offer a reason for the games' disappearance. It may have something to do with the Bond license and its possible expiration, but we don't know anything for sure. We've reached out to Activision for more information.

Here's our review of the most recent Bond game, 007 Legends care of associate editor Dan Ryckert. If our review is any indication, Legends may have been pulled for quality assurance reasons.

  • Quantum of Solace wasn't that bad of a game.
  • Odd for them to dissapear without much of a given reason, when looking at most recent james bond reviews i wouldnt say its much of a loss tho

  • That is wierd.

  • Quantum of Solace, Goldeneye Reboot and Blood Stone were all solid games, however I don't think anyone will shed a tear for 007 Legends, which is one of the worst excuses for a Bond game I've ever seen. Trust me, it is a wonderful thing that Legends can't be bought anymore. Nobody will have to suffer through it as I did...I was never the same when I finished Legends. Free bananas are slightly more complicated than an orbital fart.
  • Goldeneye was fun. I remember it from the days of the N64.
  • I miss the old james bond games...
  • I really don't understand the need for 007 to always be first person. I mean yeah it could be good (Goldeneye 1997/2010, Agent Under Fire, Nighfire), it just never feels like I'm Bond. Publishers need to stop trying to make a quick buck by being being so pushy in trying to do a yearly release and trying to recapture the success that Rare had. EA was pretty much there IMO with Everything or Nothing. Now that game I consider to be the best Bond game ever, and a fantastic way to treat a license.

Also, I wish that the license goes elsewhere as I don't think Activision is handling it well. The fact that the license contributed to the closure of a couple of studios is not right at all.
  • And this, people, is why we should NOT encourage a digital-only future for our games. The mere fact that servers get shut down, licenses expire/change hands, companies go into liquidation etc... are all reasons that digital-only is an awful proposition. Despite paying for them, you own none of your Steam games. And they can all vanish without any warning. How uncomfortable does that make you? Same goes for Xbox Live Arcade, Playstation Network and Nintendo's online offerings. You can forget the joy of playing games 20-30 years later when you get a "retro urge" - they simply won't exist unless you've got yourself a physical copy.
  • Quality assurance reasons? So Activision stopped selling the games because Legends was bad? That's strange. I know Legends was pretty bad, but why would they stop selling all their Bond games? Did they lose the license?
  • Golden Eye for the N64 was the last Bond game I played. And judging from reactions of friends and acquaintances, I didn't miss anything from avoiding the rest of them.

  • If any indication of LEGO 007 games and Lego sets start appearing, then there is a Bond licensing problem.

  • I played many hours of Quantum of Solace with my friend, and let me tell ya, I loved it! Just putting it out there.

  • I have 007 Quantum of Solace and I just got 007 Legends for Christmas. Plus my brother Has 007 Goldeneye Reloaded. Just putting that out there.
  • I personally think that another game company should buy the rights to the 007 games. Activision really haven't done well with the past 007 titles
  • Activision waves their hand at the internet; these are not the games you're looking for.
  • Does not matter, games sucked!
  • Hmm... This couldn't have anything to do with most of them sucking could it? 0_o

  • a lot of bond games were extremely good, some of the best games on gamecube, I remember doing all nighters when i was 10 on nightfire, shooting through walls and burning people with the space shuttle in Goldeneye:Rogue Agent and dieing 100 times while playing everything or nothing. 007 Legends was just awful and ruined the already shaky bond name in video games. That said as long as i still can get my hand on the classics i dont care about the new ones.

  • I still wanna play 007 Legends! :D
