Demon's Souls Hitting PSN

Do you miss dying? Want to go back to the series' beginnings before Dark Souls 2? Never got around to it the first time? Now is your chance to digitally download Atlus' Demon's Souls, a game that changed the way we feel about dying.

According to the PlayStation blog, Demon's Souls hits PSN this coming Tuesday, January 8th for $19.99.

To celebrate the game going digital, a Pure White World Tendency event will be held from January 8th to 14th. This event offers lesser difficulty and opens up features that are only available in the Pure White state.

  • Dang it, I just gave my copy to my brother, who moved away. I didn't think there would be any more pure white events... dang it.
I don't suppose a psn version would work with disc based saves?
  • Awesome! I have been wanting to play this. After enjoying Dark Souls so much. Quickly became one of my favorite games.
  • Um, Demon's Souls and Dark Souls aren't canonically linked, although made by the same dev. They're separate universes, and apparently Demon's Souls is -- depending on who you ask -- either easier or harder. I will keep this in mind though, since I liked the taste of Dark Souls that I got, especially with the rather logical combat (I was able to defeat the first boss without dying because of being observant. I was amazed someone still designed boss fights like that instead of linear affairs. Thank God).
  • Yep, definitly getting this on Tuesday after the Irish roll the Tide out of the national championship Monday night. Go Irish!

  • From software developped the game , not atlus , they only published it in the US and EU.
  • The first leaves fell on the day Sallynockicus declared independence from male seahorses. She had been reading human biology textbooks (they "fell" off a boat when the plump owner decided the space would be better served with a box of yodels), and find it awkward that male seahorses carry their young, as opposed to the females. The reason behind this was that male seahorses pop the children out and then head back to EarthWorld, where they drink to their hearts' content and trade stories of mischievous female clown fish. After several months of planning and filing for a separate seahorse state for females, the license and real estate was rejected. The judge who denied the applications was a female seahorse however, and she was wise and full of years. She stated that when she was just a seapony, a similar move occurred, and this was called "Seahorse-Jonestown", and it ended with all the females drinking too much alka seltzer and exploding from the carbonation. The movement (present day) withered away, but you will now see male seahorses do more of their fair share around the house, lest there not be anyone to prepare their algae-salad sandwiches.
  • Woo! Already have the disc for the game, but this is great news, and more events for Demon's Souls to add to this, just fantastic!

  • I thought Dark Souls was Demon's' spiritual successor.
  • awesome, I still own a physical copy but still awesome!

  • Don't know, I've never felt that dying's cool and probably never will. . .
  • Wow, I really forgot I had this game in my collection gotta dust it off  , and begin where I left this outrageous experience.

  • For some reason I didn't like this one, but I loved Dark souls. Probably due to its more open world.
  • I wish they would release it on PC but it's Sony, so no chance. Anyway I love Dark Souls, can't get enough of it. Too many games today are handhold you, tell you EXACTLY where to go, and are just plain easy. Souls games are so refreshing because they actually bring a little challenge but if you aren't a casual and know what you are doing they are never hard
  • this entire franchise goes into my history as the main one that beat me to the point that i refuse to play.. they've made perfect dust collectors.. not bashing just saying.. 1st 2 games that ever made me whine " BUT IT"S TOO HARD !!!!"
  • Awesome :D hopefully an influx of new players will convince them to keep the servers open. They've mentioned shutting them down a couple times :(

  • I dont have a ps3 but I this now has me hooked on getting one. Demon Souls, Journey, Last of Us and Legend of Dragoon are all games that I want to play.
  • I really loved Demon's Souls, I thought the bosses were all so much more memorable than they were in Dark Souls. That said I do love both games about equally, but Demon's Souls will always be special since it was the first game of it's sort.
  • I could buy a physical copy for $20 retail. The industry really needs to adjust pricing for digital games. No disc, case, box art, manufacturing/distribution costs should equal a cheaper game.
  • All of the gamer masochists out there will probably be really excited over this...myself included.  I may end up eventually getting this, having loved Dark Souls (event though I still haven't beaten it).
