Microsoft Apologizes For Cloud Save Issues With Free Live

Late last week some Xbox Live customers experienced Xbox Live outages and trouble using cloud save files. Now Microsoft is apologizing for this problem and giving effected members a free month of Live.

As Major Nelson describes on his blog, "We want to thank all of our Xbox LIVE members impacted by the Cloud Saved Games service issue for your patience and understanding. It took longer than we expected to get back to full performance as we needed to ensure the integrity of everyone’s game saves. Whether you couldn’t access your game saves for a couple of hours or a couple of days, we sincerely apologize for the delay and inconvenience. We will be automatically applying a one-month extension to the Xbox LIVE Gold memberships of everyone who was impacted. We can assure you we’ll also be doing a thorough post mortem to help prevent this from happening again."

Looks like those effected don't even half to complain to get their free month of service. Let's hope this never happens again...then again our XBLA service is about to expire.

  • Good thing I don't use Cloud.
  • affected lol :P couldnt resist...
  • Xbox Live should be at least cheaper in the first place. I get that its fair to charge for online services, I mean 30 dollars would be more realistic seeing as how you have to pay for some of the services you get anyway (Netflix,Hulu, etc.) whereas some features should be free in the first place as well. (the ability to play online, Party chat, etc.)
EDIT: I only use cloud as a way to, say, take my borderlands 2, or skyrim data or something thats already saved on my hard drive and play on a different Xbox. Its the only thing i find cloud useful for.
  • I always save on my hard drive, I would like to try icloud.
  • half to complain?
  • Wish they'd apologize for selling me a game the other day that I can't download *cough* Bully

  • Your cloud saves are actually on your hard drive as well, I copied my save file into the "regular" hard drive and it worked just fine.

  • Thats awesome, also nice from Microsoft. HaHa good luck people. I always save to my hard drive instead. But yet again, I have PS3.

  • That's why I don't use the cloud. I'm super worried all my data could just disappear from some glitch in the system or something. The 20 GB left on my 120 GB hard drive will have to do!
  • Well, at least they seem to have fixed it...sorta.

  • My Halo 4 oceanic armor was saved on my cloud. So when I couldn't see my armor.... I was pissed.

  • That's karma telling them to stop being greedy little piggies.

  • Cool, Free month.

  • I never use cloud because honestly i dont need all my saves and memory if im just going over to a friends house for a few hours then i can just sign in as guest.

  • It will appear that both Sony and Microsoft have problems in their Internet service. Oh well, at least we are not all perfect beings like the Reapers from Mass Effect or the Etherals from XCOM.

  • I more or less use Cloud Saves to back up my files whenever I'm done playing a game so that way if I lose my data, I'll use the Cloud Saves to back up what I lost. I lost all my data early last year, so I gotta be prepared for the next time that might happen....

  • I saw this on Twitter 2 days ago..

  • say what live had a booo boo bawww

  • Well, the good news there is some compensation for this.
