The lights are on
Update: An Official Xbox Magazine story confirms that the new Tomb Raider will have multiplayer.
Official Xbox Magazine Just tweeted that the February issue of its magazine will include a detailed story of the game's rumored multiplayer mode. We can't wait to get more details
Original Story: If a recent listing on UK retailer Game can be trusted, it looks like the new Tomb Raider game will include multiplayer.
Game recently listed Tomb Raider on it's online site with the following produce description:
"Play a variety of multiplayer modes as Lara's Shipmates or Yamatai's Scavengers."
That description has recently been removed, but does that mean it's not a feature in the game, or does it mean that it's a feature of the game that hasn't been announced?
What would you think of a multiplayer mode for Tomb Raider? It would certainly be new territory for the series, but does it fit the series style? Would it be like when 2K added multiplayer to BioShock? We'll have to wait and see what Square announces before the game releases in March.

That is gonna be awesome! I love bioshock 2 multiplayer
Sweet. Now I can play more often with other people.
Not really surprising. More and more games seem to make this move each year.
I was going to buy it without multiplayer. So if they decide to add it on I have no problem with it, as long as it doesn't make the single player worse.
multiplayer? hmm... seems cool. but, single player would be the best.
I never asked for this
Drawing a line in the sand here. First The Last of Us and now Tomb Raider? Why can't the industry get it right. They try and cram in single-player to games that don't need it anymore (COD and MOH) and multi-player into games where it just takes resources away from where they would be better served (FarCry 3, AC3 and now Tomb Raider). Smarten up peoples!!
I see this as likely being similar to Uncharted's multiplayer.
Welp, there ya go.
The multi-player might be decent, but seeing as it seems their goal so far has been to craft a narrative-driven game about Lara Croft becoming who she is...I think it might be the epitome of tacked-on.
Should be interesting. Hope it works out.
not surprised people are upset about this but i can't wait :) and bioshock's multiplayer wasn't that bad it had many flaws but it was still playable and OPTIONAL.
The exploring is why I play tomb raider. It would be very interesting how a multiplayer could be done with this game. Hell, people said AC was a ridiculous game to have a multilayer. The rest is history.
I don't like it when developers feel the need for multiplayer in single player games when there are plenty of multiplayer games out their that will be better than anything Tomb Raider does.
