The lights are on
Earlier this year, Bethesda finally acquired Interplay’s rights to a Fallout MMO after a lengthy courtroom battle. Developer of the Fallout MMO and sub-division of Interplay, Black Isle Studios, dropped the Fallout moniker and stuck with the name Project V13. The game is still in development, but the studio is turning to fans of post-apocalyptic games to help contribute money so the team can create a proof of concept prototype.
Contributors will earn badges of varying rank and exclusive forum access for their generosity. Unlike many other crowdfunding projects, backers won’t receive a copy of the game automatically. Once finished, Black Isle Studios will use the prototype to raise more money to complete the game.
As develop-online points out, Black Isle Studios’ website doesn’t necessarily state whether Project V13 is still an MMO. The game is described as a post-apocalyptic strategy RPG and mention vast worlds, interacting with NPCs, and skill progression. Watch the video below for more information and personal interviews from Project V13 developers. Visit Black Isle Studios' website to contribute.

While it is rare that backers do not receive a copy of the game, I suppose it is the nature of crowd funding to simply have the end goal be: make the game complete. I don't really understand what the distinction is between the prototype version and the expected complete (after crowd funding) but hopefully it is still an MMO since those who recall this title name probably expect that.
Give us some money so we can keep working on something that may never see the light of day! Sounds like a win/win to me!
Is that Kickstarter? Crowdfunding?
Rather have a fallout MMO then an elder scrolls MMO but we can't always get what we want.
As much of an advocate I am for the gaming community to support new projects and struggling devs, this is almost spelling out ponzi scheme
why would I put money into something that will probably never happen. It seems like a bad investment
Go and talk to IneXile! Slap the Wasteland brand on it now! :)
I'd love to see Fallout 4 as a launch title for the next-gen Xbox. That is all.
For some reason (I think it's 'cuz of the "/" on the end), Gameinformer, your links to Blackisle.com don't work.
Well just because i LOVE Fo1 and Fo2, I think im gonna support this.
they are not black isle; hate how they take credit
I could be mistaken but it seems to me like Black Isle has been working on this for a loooooooong time and they're asking money to develope a "proof of concept prototype"!?!?!? What have they been doing all this time that they've been trying to keep the Fallout liscense? I love Black Isle Studios and have every one of the games they developed (according to their Wiki page) except for BG Dark Alliance but I'm not sure I can get behind this, this whatever it is. Forget Fallout, forget mmo's and make an updated, modern version of Planescape: Torment.
mmo? meh. fallout 4 please
after watching that sham of a video... i've lost all faith in this... i hope i'm proven wrong though
After playing (and getting seriously burned by) War Z, I'm staying the hell away from MMO's that seem amateur-ish. I'm perfectly fine with Guild Wars 2, and just recently got back into Age of Conan (who gave the F2P model one hell of an overhaul, and doesn't seem so constricting since they eased up on the non-subscriber limits).
