Update: Scott Pilgrim Creator Says DLC Not Canceled

Update: Good news for fans of 2010's beat 'em up hit, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game. Bryan O'Malley, the creator of the Scott Pilgrim, is stating that the upcoming DLC has not been canceled.

O'Malley reached out to fans on Twitter with the following message:

"There’s a rumor going around that the Scott Pilgrim video game DLC from Ubisoft has been cancelled. Status: FALSE."

We're still waiting for a response from Ubisoft regarding its plans for the DLC, but it appears fans of the game can now breathe a sigh of relief.

Original Story: Fans of the beat 'em up Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game were understandably excited when Ubisoft announced the game would be receiving DLC support in 2012. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we'll ever get it.

The DLC was slated to add online multiplayer and the new fan-favorite character Wallace to the game. According to Hardcore Gamer, Ubisoft customer support agents have been responding to inquiries from fans by telling them that the DLC has been canceled due to a lack of interest.

The game has been out for over two years now, but its dedicated following, as well as the initial promise of 2012 DLC, makes the cancellation even more of a disappointment.
It looks like we'll have to stick to the classic cast of characters and be resigned to couch co-op forever.

We have reached out to Ubisoft and will update the story if we hear anything back.

  • Oh common! Why the heck did this happen. This game is a real treat. And having a MP mode would have been a total blast!
  • It really took 2 years to add online co-op
  • I loved the books, but the movie wasn't really true to them IMO, and I didn't really like it. I've never played this game, but that's sad that they canceled it.
  • This was supposed to release in October... and on the day of the release they announced it was pushed back... Why not be upfront with everyone about it?

  • That's pathetic.

Edit: Ok, I retract my statement.
  • It probably lost interest because it took so damn long to add online. I mean, c'mon, it should've had that from the start and it's hard to stay excited about it when other things are being released, so it's natural for interest to wane.
  • How do they measure "lack of interest"?  Am I supposed to call them to say please give me something you announced?

  • UbiFail.

  • Mod

Game was so good. Was really looking forward to playing this with some friends who haven't yet because of no online multiplayer. Huge bummer.

  • A "lack of interest" from who? The fans that have waited this long for online support, or the developers that don't give a crap?

  • aw. that's sad

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  But I wanted to play as Wallace...

    *POUT*

  • Wow, this is extremely disappointing. I have always wondered why online co-op was not included in the first place with this game? It's pretty much built for it. :(
  • This game needs to be ported to PC. Definitely a great beat 'em up! Love the books, the movie was awesome and this game needs more love.

  • DAMMMMMMMIT!!

  • HA HA HA HA!This is great.Cant wait to see the comment.(grabs popcorn)

  • This is a real disappointment since it is practically built to support co-op! this DLC has been talked about for so long now though it makes since that it would be canceled.

  • Online is the reason why I didn't purchase this. Guess I won't ever be purchasing  it.

  • The online thing is really a COD fad anyway.

I would have loved to play as the Pepsi Kid, though.

  • Well that sucks.
