Konami Wants To Work With Platinum Again

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is due out early next year, and Konami would love to work on a sequel, pending Revengeance's fan reception.

“If people like Metal Gear Rising, if the fans who play this game ask for more, that would be awesome,” producer Yuji Korekado said.

“That would be great for us and we would be happy to consider working on another game in Metal Gear Rising.”

Korekado says that Revengeance couldn't have been made without Platinum or Konami, and a future partnership would be ideal.

When asked about possible future games, Korekado thinks there are many possible routes. "We believe in the Metal Gear world," he said. "There are several other characters and settings and other elements that can lead to more projects,” he said.

Revengeance is coming to Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 next year. PC and Wii U owners are still left out. Korekado said that Konami will consider a PC port, but that there is no talk regarding a Wii U version of the game.

  • That is a low quality graphic you've selected GI. If I do say so myself...
  • I think if Konami is willing and excited about the opportunity to work with Platinum again, then I will say I am really looking forward to see the product they have made. If Konami is confident, thats enough for me.
  • I hope MGR is a success! Helps keep Metal Gear alive and going!! More metal gear isn't a bad thing in my opinion :3
  • It's a pleasure when a publisher doesn't have their head firmly implanted up their rears. If you like it, we'll make another, with the same people.
Seems like common sense, but some places, it's a radical philosophy... cough cough Namco cough cough
Though, they did bust up Team Silent to great dissaster. So maybe they had to learn this the hard way.
  • Nintendo is working with them and Konami wants a sequel? Platinum's quite popular lately, aren't they? Well, they deserve it!

Still not entirely sure what they were thinking with Anarchy Reigns, though.
  • The game looks like it runs very smoothly, and the cutting mechanic looks great! I can't wait to play the demo next month.
  • Honestly I'm pretty excited for it though I'm not a play station fan, irony huh

  • Patiently waiting
  • Konami really should start making the Metal Gear games for the Wii U to maximize profits and draw in a new player-base. I know I personally would want to play the Solid series, but don't have any Sony systems to do so.
  • I would love for Konami to work with Platinum again. They seem very enthused about it. And from the looks of the demo, it seems the work they do together is outstanding. I hope the final release gets enough praise to seal a future Konami/Platinum partnership.

  • Game on my radar for sure.

  • I'll keep my excitement for a sequel to a minimum at the moment, since we don't even know if the first Rising will be good. However, if it does indeed turn out well, I'll gladly play every sequel I can get.
  • Metal Gear + Platinum Games = Win!
  • Gray Fox game. I wanna kill me some medics
  • Great

  • Konami let Platinum have a crack at the Contra IP.
  • That's really cool for them to publicly say that.  Not a lot of companies do.  And I second that; if the game is good I'd want a sequel!

  • I want a game that focuses on Meryl's adventures between MGS and Patriots. I want to see more of The Boss. I want a FOXHOUND team game where you play as Liquid, Sniper, Psycho, Vulcan, Revolver, and Decoy doing covert stuff.

There's a wealth of MGS lore, I want it all.

  • As long as they leave Snake alone in future games (and don't absolutely butcher this one) then I'm all for more Metal Gear.

  • I'm really curious & excited to play Revengeance. I hope it does well.
