The lights are on
It doesn't necessarily correlate to copies sold or shipped, but THQ's president Jason Rubin tweeted that 5.5 million people have played Saint's Row: The Third.
Rubin calls the game, "the hit nobody realized was a hit!" And those numbers apparently represent Saint's Row's popularity before the recent Humble THQ Bundle sale that offered the game at a discounted price.

Who cares... I don't like extremely violent games...
Never got the full effect of this game. My gf deleted my save file on accident, I got PO'd and quit playing. I think I'm going to pick it back up, and get it from Steam this time idk yet, but I will get it that's for sure it was a ton of fun.
Yea? Over 8 billion didn't play it so who cares.
Saints Row 4 now please!
Just please put that tiny bit of extra effort in and make the cooperative better. I found whenever I strayed from my co-op partner, whilst he was fighting all of the police etc... I was driving around an empty city because the game can't seem to cope with two places at once.
Make SR4 a next gen project though.
The game was fun, but it was very repetitive and the story was terrible. It was cool that they weren't shy on giving you insanely powerful guns early on in the game and the ability to put on crazy clothing while killing people with a giant purple *** was fun, but it wasn't anything special. I would give the game a 5/10. Fun but not that fun.
Was by far one of the funniest games I have ever played. If you haven't played it, I would give it a shot.
Makes sense. This game was amazing. Bring on Saints Row The Fourth!
I honestly loved this game. Hadn't even played any of the previous Saints Row games and just went out on a limb and bought this and loved the humor.
Saints Row the Third was some of the best fun I had in 2011! A friend and I had pre-ordered it and before I knew it a month had gone by without putting that game down.
This game freakin' deserves it. Best sandbox fun I have ever had.
Saints row 3 was prettier but- saints row 2 won in quality of gameplay, length of gameplay, customization options and it was the right amount of serious and ridiculous - sr3 was short, less custom options and waaaay too gonzo
I'm one of those :)
Thats atcually really interseting. Makes you think of how many people have played GTA4.
The Saint's Row series is great but THQ still sucks.
I was one of the ones who missed this back in 2011, but I picked it up in the Humble Bundle. Enjoying it so far, but it has not surpassed Skyrim or Arkham City.
I just played it yesterday
Aaaaaaand then Grand Theft Auto V comes in
I haven't. . .
