Animation Recounts The History Of Nintendo's Controllers

Animator Chris Koelsch has posted an impressive animation online of the history of Nintendo's controllers.

Maybe it's kind of silly that Nintendo drastically redesigns its controllers for each new console, but can you imagine how boring a PlayStation animation of a similar nature would be? This is actually an update to one of Koelsch's previous animations. Now that the Wii U is out, he's got to throw that one in there after all.

  • They just got weirder and weirder.
  • That was pretty neat.

  • I sort of expected something better...
  • Well all can be said is that at least the control fits the hands better over the generations. Also really never did mess with the idea too much or went too radical besides the WiiU controller is the only one that is very radical but cool.
  • Ahh the Nintendo 64 controller...
  • Ok......

  • I was expecting more. but none.

  • Heh... someone should do one on the PlayStation controlers... ROFL! The video would only be like 5 seconds long.
  • That looked like a lot of fun to make. And why not? All the haters saying it's "boring" or that they expected more are obviously missing something. By the way, it was only, what, 22 seconds? Bet you really missed out on something cool in those 22 seconds, huh?

  • What about the Power Glove? It's so bad.

  • Nintendo Controllers have Devolved And the Nintendo Wii Controler as shown there is a lie because you cant use it without Nunchuck

  • Another impressive animation.

  • What Spock said.
  • lol not much change but thats nintendo for you.
  • The N64's, to this day, is one of the weirdest controllers ever. The Gamecube's also looks like a bug-eyed hick. Still, they are both excellent.
  • I remember the old n64 controller, those were the days...
