THQ Announces Metro: Last Light Limited Edition, Ranger Mode

THQ has revealed some more information about 4A Games' upcoming post-apocalyptic shooter, Metro: Last Light. If you preorder the game, you'll be able to get a special limited edition of it, which includes in-game bonuses and Metro 2033's punishing Ranger Mode.

The limited edition, which is available at no additional cost to people who preorder the game, includes several in-game extras. The first is a modified Russian rifle, the AKS-74U. The limited edition also includes Ranger Mode, which was available as DLC for Metro 2033. Players who take on this challenge will face reduced ammo availability and increased weapon damage, both from enemies' and Artyom's weapons. To help compensate for the difficulty spike, the limited edition includes the Ranger loadout. This essentially pads your wallet by providing additional military-grade bullets, which are the game's currency.

Ranger Mode also includes the Ranger Hardcore variant, which manages to increase the damage effects from Ranger Mode even further while also removing the game's HUD. You'll have to keep a close eye on your weapons for ammo counts, and avoid firing your weapons altogether if you can.

Metro: Last Light will be available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in March. For a look at it in action, check out the most recent trailer.

  • That seems pretty sweet. I don't know if I will do my first playthrough on Ranger mode though. I usually save harder difficulties for my second playthrough. Nevertheless, this game is gonna be great.
  • Another great preorder temptation for my credit card.
  • I was already planning on preordering this. So it's a nice bonus! And Ranger mode and Ranger Hardcore variant sounds like a perfect fit. Very excited!

  • Well I already have this preordered, so awesome.

  • Is this is a DLC offer, or is it for once included in the game at no connecting to the Internet required?

  • The first game was more focused on story rather than gameplay, I hope this one stays with that formula
  • Prob wont preorder cause I very rarely do but i assume the Ranger mode will be made DLC at some point like in 1. Which I just got from the Humble Bundle and am absolutely loving it. It's a shame this game isn't that popular. It's fantastic! Besides the dang librarians! I just got past them and am too scared to hop back on! :O
  • This game looks pretty cool. Can't wait for its release!

  • Sweeet.

  • I hope they have Cabbage Medals.

  • And here I though it was Morphing Time. That should totally be a mode.

  • Yes please. I love playing games that sink into history as cult classics, and metro 2033 was easily one of my favorites. I still would've preordered it even if the bonuses cost extra.

  • To me, Ranger mode was the ideal way to play the game. So happy it's returning. =D
  • Metro 2033 is the best apocalypse game I've ever played next to Fallout 3. I cannot wait for this game to come out. I'm also really glad that THQ is not forcing the Dev to shoehorn in multiplayer. It is truly rare when you see something like that happen nowdays.
  • This went from a buy to a must buy!

  • For anyone that doesnt have Metro 2033, it is free right now, just go to the facebook page! www.facebook.com/MetroVideoGame

  • I remembdr playing the first soley because of the review GI did, and it was still a year after it released. Thank you GI for recommending the game with your review. I have been eagerly awaiting this sequel.

  • Sounds cool. I still need to play the first one.
