Dead Space 3 Gets Kinect Support

Electronic Arts has announced that the Xbox 360 version of Dead Space 3 will use the Kinect's voice command functionality.

Optional voice commands can be used to heal, re-load, attack, and find your partner in both single-player and co-op play. The game will not use any Kinect gestures.

Dead Space 3 comes out on February 5.

  • Absolutely no point for Kinect support, but that's just me!
  • Ok then

  • There's no point for it to have Kinect but it won't detract anything from the overall experience I'm sure. In fact, it may add something for those who care to use Kinect.
  • Every time Kinect hears you scream, Isaac will drop whatever he's doing and assume the fetal position until the screaming stops.
  • Whenever you scream during co-op your partner has to come and change your depends diapers, makes perfect sense.

  • This seems similar to what Mass Effect 3 did, which I heard a lot of people liked. Ironic how the better Kinect supported games only using voice recognition and no movement.

  • Wow

  • Sounds neat I guess. Whenever you scream at Kinect,Isaac will look a the screen and say "Jesus Christ, man is just a game, take it easy."
  • Not for or against the Kinect Support. But if it actually works well, I might use it.

  • My question is, why?
  • I wonder how it will work on Co-op, if player one yells reload, both will reload? or should the player one Yell, "Isaac, Reload!"

Btw, is just support kinect, if you dont want to use it, dont do it, no point asking why? it can be really usefull, and, no, I dont have a kinect
  • That could be really useful if they actually work decent.

  • Hahaha, this will be a great comment section.

  • Dead Space 3, Better With Kinect!

  • I'm glad that the use of gestures has been omitted from the Kinect capabilities. The last thing I want is to reload my plasma cutter by flailing around on my couch - cussing at the Kinect for telling me to, "please move closer." Shrieking as I am impaled is much more natural.

  • Kinect seems to be much more effective when using the voice recognition versus movement.  I use it all the time when streaming from Netflix/Hulu and I love using it in Mass Effect 3.  Just don't ask me to wave my arms.

  • Still haven't seen anything that makes me want to get a Kinect despite some cool implementations. Do those of you who purchased Kinect apart from the console package feel like it was worthwhile? What do you regularly use it for?
  • How about a choreographed dance number featuring Issac and the necromorphs?
  • The game will deploy a happy-face in the corner of the screen every time you scream to reassure you that everyhting is going to be alright.

  • kinect...for voice command...
