The lights are on
In an interview with G4's X-Play, former Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski says he will start a new studio soon, it's just matter of when and with whom.
Bleszinski told X-Play that while he's flattered at the fan response to Gears of War, he doesn't want the series to be his legacy. He doesn't want to to be known as just the chainsaw gun guy. He will dive back into the world of game development soon, with his own studio, but he's not sure when.
Bleszinski also tweeted recently that, "one of the new ideas I'm gestating on is code named 'BlueStreak.'" In the interview with X-Play, Bleszinski said that BlueSreak is the code name for the new IP he is developing.

Not surprising with the whole, "when". Remember he left Epic to take a break from game development. I'm sure he'll be back when he's ready.
I like Cliff, but I'm not a big fan of Gears. I hope his next game is better.
I'm not sure how much Cliff was part of the development of Unreal Tournament, but I'd love to see him make a fast paced, old school shooter to rival UT2004. Either that, or Epic has to make the next UT ASAP.
The dude has been in the spotlight for what seems like ages. Not surprised he needed to take a break and enjoy the fortune he's earned. I don't know if being known as "the gears guy" isn't too bad of a fate either. Arguably, Gears is one of the most influential franchises of this generation. Nothing too bad with that.
If he ever does make a company, I hope it will be a fitting successeor to GoW
I find it ironic that he explicitly stated he didn't want to be remembered with the image that GI then used in the article.
Was that intentional or not?
Either way... I guess we're not done hearing Cliffy B. talking about how Deadly Premonition could "benefit" from having a deathmatch mode.
oh a new studio!
This guy bugs me. I don't think I have played any of his games. He does not have to worry about being the chainsaw gun guy, to me his legacy is that of guy who loves to talk $#!T.
I've never played any of the GoW games, but Cliffy B is definitely a guy in the industry I respect. I'll definitely check out whatever he puts out next.
Well best of luck to the guy whom... haters love?
I hope he can make something great (and multi-platform). I've played Gears, but I never loved it as much as I was told I should. It wasn't bad, but 3rd-person-chest-high-wall-shooters just don't really do it for me. I'm hopeful Cliff has something more creative and innovative this time around.
This comes as no surprise......and good for him, I say.....!!!! Release the Kraken!!!!
