Apple Awards Rayman Jungle Run Game Of The Year

Apple has awarded a number of 'Best of' trophies to assorted apps in its store for 2012, and Rayman Jungle Run took home the Best Game award.

Rayman Jungle Run is a fine choice, as I had a blast platforming and collecting every Lum, but there were a lot of other great games in Apple's App Store this year. Who do you think should have won? Super Hexagon? 10000000? Block Ops?

Update: Apple offered a separate award for iPad Game of the Year, and it went to The Room, a game our editor in chief Andy McNamara liked quite a bit. The Room Pocket is also available for iPhone 4s and 5 today

  • Vice city iOS.... Nuff said.
  • BEFORE PEOPLE YELL: This was mobile games on the app store, not games across the board. But about this game, I really like it. It's my favorite app overall that's not a re-release of another game.

  • Super Hexagon is just addictive and I have too much fun with it. I think it should've won.

  • ???? How the heck did this game win GAME OF THE YEAR? It's fun but its not amazing.
  • Rayman wins. Period.

  • Great game. It's a perfect iOS gaming experience.

  • And this is why consoles aren't going away.
  • hmmmm.

  • Good for them! This is such a great game for quick bursts of platforming goodness.

  • Well, it's better than TWD.

  • Good choice. This is what I chose for iOS GOTY. 2nd place for me would be Super Hexagon.

  • I feel like giving it to just another endless runner (or auto runner or whatever the sub-genre of platformer is called) is kind of lazy. This year, the iOS got games like Lili and Horn. Titles that really pushed what could be done without buttons, and were colorful and had fantastic atmosphere and style to boot.

Apple don't know **** about games anyway, just like they don't know **** about computers. Guess I shouldn't care what they think. I'm not some sort of... mindless, hipster, zombie-yuppie after all ;)

  • Good for it.

  • Very nice. Yeah, I guess I could see that. Not my pick, but a worthy adversary...

  • Nice choice, Apple! It's definitely better than last year's choice. Tiny Tower is good but it didn't deserve game of the year last year. This game is an amazing iOS exclusive game!
