3DS Has Outsold PS3 In Only Two Years In Japan

According to the latest reports, Nintendo's 3DS handheld has surpassed the PS3 in lifetime sales in Japan.

Media Create (via Nintendo Life), reported that 211,499 Nintendo 3DSs were sold between December 3 and December 9 making the grand total of 3DSs sold 8,799,378 since its debut two years ago. The PS3 has only sold 8,716,260 units since its debut in Japan in November 2006.

The only platform to outsell the 3DS last week was the Wii U, which had 308,142 units sold in Japan. Check out Eurogamer for the full listing of sales.

My dream has finally come true Nintendo is beating the sony ps3 by selling more systems. Nintendo has outdone its self. in other words i like it when Nintendo out sells another company.im a fanboy of Nintendo.

Who cares? Nintendo has ALWAYS had a huge market in Japan. Those numbers would be very different here in the U.S.

i love my 3DS... but my PS3 is my favorite system i've ever owned. 60G (fully backwards compatible) black beauty. if this console generation lasted another 5 years i'd be content. insert hater rants below....

Hahah this is not surprising. The 3DS is really amazing. Alotta good games and its very user friendly. The JAPANESE 3DS (which I am buying really soon by the way) has so many legit games for it that its not even funny.

well this is in Japan, so all you console war trolls can bugger off, in Japan they ride trains and are always walking to places because of traffic if they aren't on trains, so 3DS is more practical to them since they have no time to rest at home and play PS3 and be lazy like us Americans lol, and 3DS gets cooler stuff for 3DS like the Pokemon 3DS's and such. Also 360 is near non-existent in Japan :P
