Update: It seems that news of Mass Effect's next release was a little premature.

It appears that this news regarding the next installment of BioWare's Mass Effect series was inaccurate. Gamer Syndrome updated their story to say, "The information provided previously by the author of this post was deemed to be obtained from an inaccurate source and NOT an official Bioware or EA interview response." Gamer Syndrome apologized for the inconvenience, but we'd still love to hear about the next Mass Effect game, BioWare!

Original Story: Full development on BioWare's next Mass Effect game only just started a month or so ago, but it sounds like the studio is already aiming for a Late 2014 to mid-2015 release. Are you feeling patient?

While talking to Gamer Syndrome, Mass Effect 3 producer Mike Gamble said that the next Mass Effect game would be coming in, "Late 2014 to mid-2015. I honestly can't tell you an exact because full development on the game started a month or two ago."

Gamble also stated, "BioWare Montreal is a great studio and they did fantastic with the multiplayer for Mass Effect 3, so fans should know the series is in good hands. The game isn’t far along in development so I can’t comment on specifics because they isn’t any yet, Frostbite 2 is a really good game engine that we are also using on Dragon Age 3...You’ll hear more about the new Mass Effect game [next year] in 2013."

We'd love to hear more specifics, but since they just started working on the game, we'll take these crumbs.

The Montreal studio huh? Well, at least we know the combat will be good, but I'm still really skeptical. Bioware Montreal are the ones who did the Omega DLC and I was underwhelmed by that.

I forgot that they said the game was using Frostbite 2. I'm assuming that multiplayer is going to return with some tweaks, as well. Well, I'm a fairly patient person and it's not like we're going to have nothing to play between now and then. I'm looking at you, The Last of Us.

Can't wait. One of the best series in gaming this generation. Regardless of your opinions of the ending, it was one heck of a ride.

Let's hope the but the RPG elements/exploration a bit more forward this game, I was sorely disappointed by the complete and total lost of what little exploration the was left in ME2 along with the linearity of the story. It would also be nice if we had more choices like the Virmire survivor decision or the Rachni Queen, they still resonated up to the final game and I haven't seen anything anywhere near those choices since then.

Please be after ME3. I don't want a prequel. My dream ME game would be set 500 years after ME3. Liara, Grunt and a couple other people could make cameos cause they can live long enough. But you play as a Spectre and can choose to play as an Asari, Drell, Human, Turian or Salarian. (similar to DA:O). It does not have to one up the Reapers in terms of a big bad, but I am pretty sure they could make an amazing second trilogy set after the events of ME3 and your decision in the Catalyst.

I wish them luck and hope they continue creating an amazing experiences that we have loved for years. maybe a alien protagonist is in order? we have been playing as different species in multiplayer, maybe it was a test run for ME4
I personal want to be a Turian. Garrus Vakarian makes it look so, Awesome

I'm curious where they plan to take the story. Seeing how Shepard's story is wrapped up it would be a mistake to not explore something/someone else.
