The lights are on
The Creative Assembly – developers of the Total War series (fall 2013's Total War: Rome II shown above) and Sega subsidiary – have signed a multiple title deal for the fantasy Warhammer franchise.
The first game in the deal is not expected until some time after 2013, and the studio says that it is creating a new team for the endeavor.
The Creative Assembly currently has five projects in the development, including one based on the first Alien movie.
According to Eurogamer, THQ has confirmed that today's Creative Assembly/Sega deal with Warhammer licensors Games Workshop is distinct from THQ's ongoing deal for the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

Warhammer is basically set in a fantasy version of the middle ages, while Warhammer 40k is set in the year 40,000 so while a lot of the same races are included from Warhammer Fantasy it is just a futuristic version.
SWEET great idea from bot parties
This is really good news. I can see this being great for the Warhammer franchise. I love how Creative Assembly put the Total War series together. I've always had fun with that franchise and thought they were well developed games. I'm intrigued to see what they can do with Warhammer.
This could be very cool if done well.
So, does this mean it's going to be an RTS? I love Warhammer, but my PC is not good enough for current or upcoming PC titles.
I for see an amazing strategic Warhammer game to grace PC's within the next two years. I am so looking forward to it!!
The fate of the Warhammer franchise was the first thing I worried about when I heard about THQ's troubles. This is awesome news. Awesome.
I effing love Total War. They are amazing. Love Creative Assembly
Alright Sega!

I personally think this is gonna be awesome! I've really enjoyed Creative Assembly's Total War series, so to me a deal to make WarHammer games can only be good =)
