Black Ops II, Halo 4 Lead November Sales

U.S. retail tracking firm NPD released its sales results for November 2012. Total video game sales at retail fell 11 percent compared to last year at the same time. For the month, Microsoft sold 1.26 million Xbox 360 consoles, which is down from the 1.7 million it sold last year during the same time period.

Sony and Nintendo have not released November console sales data.

“Despite an overall retail video game decline of 11 percent, November had the smallest year-over-year decrease we have seen for dollar and unit sales so far this year," NPD analyst Liam Callahan said. "This is a sign of momentum going into the December holiday period.”

Below are the top 10 games sold at retail in the U.S per NPD:

  1. Call of Duty: Black Ops II (360, PS3, PC, Wii U)**
  2. Halo 4 (360)**
  3. Assassin's Creed III (360, PS3, Wii U, PC)**
  4. Just Dance 4 (Wii, 360, Wii U, PS3)

Comments
  • put another 100 thousand in the cash pile mate.

  • Not bad for Halo 4 since it is an exclusive.
  • Not surprised in the slightest BY HALO AND COD. Still, I am a bit surprised just how well Skylanders has taken off. My how it's different than old-school Spyro games. I still want to try it.
  • Boring, all of it. Damn, I just want things to pique my interest. So many sequels.
  • Let the comment war for halo and COD begin.

  • What a shocker!

  • I am happy with the success that Halo 4 is getting. Good job 343i you did a great job.

  • Now there's a shocker. *Sarcasm*

  • Yay for AC3 still holding in there.

  • thats really shocking that halo and black ops 2 lead

    (sarcasm)

  • No surprise in those rankings.

  • Congratulations to 343 Industries. Not only did they totally knock Halo 4 out of the park, but they are seeing a lot of success for it as well. Can't wait for Halo 5.
  • NO ONE wants a repeat of last November. I'm happy seeing a few good games over the span of the year instead of all at once.

  • I hate how casuals eat up every single cod game each year... I wish people researched the product they were buying before they bought it.
  • Finally, I buy a popular game that most people own... on other systems (that would be ACIII). Speaking of which, I wonder where NSMBU (or any other Wii U game) is on that list. Ouch!
  • Well, duh.

  • if halo 4 is also available to pc, ps3 and wii u... it surpass black ops 2.
  • Then why it at my local gamestop yesterday they had 2 boxes full of call of duty black ops 2 games behind the desk? I thinking call of duty sales are faked the games don't as sell as much as u think
  • Not surprised by the top 3 at all, but definitely surprised seeing Just Dance 4 up there in #4. I guess casual gamers still love that stuff. P.s. Halo 4 > CoD
