Hearthfire, Dawnguard For PS3 Still Coming

Bethesda says that once development on Dragonborn, the upcoming expansion for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, is completed for PlayStation 3 next year the team will focus on finishing the first two add-on content Hearthfire and Dawnguard.

"On PS3 in particular, we turned our attention to Dragonborn, as we thought it was the best content to release first, and we didn’t want folks to wait longer," Bethesda said. "Once it’s ready to go for everyone, we’ll continue our previous work on Hearthfire and Dawnguard for PS3.

"Each one takes a lot of time and attention to work well in all circumstances and all combinations of DLC. Once we have a better idea of release timing and pricing, we’ll let you know."

  • Took the bastards long enough.

  • I'm just satisfied knowing that we'll get it. Even so, I was kind of looking forward to the Werewolf and Vampire Lord skilltrees more than anything else. Speaking of which, I read earlier that in Dragonborn, there were new perks in existing trees. Can anyone confirm any of this or did I just get trolled?
  • PS3 people should be happy Dragonborn is coming first. Dragonborn was SO much better than Dawnguard and Hearthfire combined.

    Dragonborn>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Dawnguard & Hearthfire.
  • *plays the Jeopardy theme song*

At this point, I'll be incredibly happy if they release the content at all. I'd love a reason to start playing Skyrim again.

  • The thought that these will ever come out is more of a dream for me than reality. Bethesda has already failed me, I just don't feel like any amount of DLC can justify the waiting that ps3 owners have to deal with.

  • YES

  • At least it's coming.. luckily there's been so many games to keep me busy, but I am really anxious to get back into Skyrim.

  • I am glad that they have not given up hope on the first two DLC's. But I am sorry, I know they have been putting so much effort, man power, and hours into this, I would be greatly discouraged if they expect for full price. Some form of discount, maybe a bundle of both together would be greatly appreciated. My reasoning for this is based off the facts. The PS3 system has been out for eight years now (seven at to the time of Skryim's release), so they should have been able to make the game run on that platform without the major flaws it ran into. Other game developers have proven it is possible to run their games and DLC on multi-platforms. And soon after the game was released we found out they even expected issues with the game. Its like the old saying "your digging a hole for yourself". They created all the extra work for themselves and knew that was most likely the outcome. Now it is six months after the release of Dawnguard, and three after Hearthfire. These DLC's are no longer new, people have been playing it, discussing it, and released video about it for a while now. I'v tried really hard to keep it from getting spoiled for me. Yes I understand they could just have stopped at anytime and called it quits, but that is where I give them credit for really trying to get the DLC's out to all their players. I don't believe they are bias with one type of platform, or do not care about their players. I just think they got rushed to get the game out and are now paying for it (just as we are paying for it as well). All-in-all I look forward to the day when I finally get the play the first two DLC's, just with a slight compensation for the long heartache we have endured. :)
  • Am I wrong to hold out for a GotY edition?
  • I just don't get this. Look at how long it has taken them to finish the first 2 DLC's. This is obviously a bigger piece of DLC... How long is it going to take them to finish Dragonborn on PS3? Damn it bethesda, what is your damn deal?
  • Hopefully at a discounted price after waiting this long.

  • Yeah. They won't be getting a pass after this. They knew these issues were there, released the game anyway, admitted it later, and now they're being treated like heroes for doing what they should've done in the first place. I'll stick with Far Cry 3. No waiting a full year or more to get eight plus patches.
  • Skyrim forever!

  • My unnatural hatred for the PS3 is making me bust out into hysterics over this whole fiasco, bahaha.

I don't even know why I hate the PS3, I just do... which is weird since I own one.

  • Hey the expansions are good.  But I'd be satisfied with them just getting the PS3 core game actually working as it's supposed to.  That would be a miracle in itself the way things have gone.

Beth, learn how to code for the PS3 or give it to another dev to port it properly like you did with Oblivion, which worked wonderfully until you introduced your own coding in the expansion.

I wanted this for the PS3, but I just went ahead and asked for it for Christmas for my PC.  Why?  The modding community has already done what you could not Beth.  They fixed your game and made it run wonderfully.  A bunch of volunteer modders doing a better job of optimizing the game than a dev studio?  Pathetic.

  • man what's disappointing is you can't control the dragons where to fly; only fast travel with this is all. they just circle around a marked location. shiiiiiit
  • As a Ps3 owner Bethesda can keep there dlc and i'll give my money to another game developer. Besides i never seen whats so great about skyrim anyways.

  • I just beat the main story a few days ago. Can't wait to play the dlc on my PS3 :-)

  • This is good to hear. First i thought to sell my PS3 Skyrim copy and buy it for my Xbox360. But now i think to wait for the official news that we get the three DLC's for the PS3.

  • No **** Bethesda! Let us know when we'll get dlc. These "DLC is on the way" statements got old months ago.
