Sony: PS3 The #1 Netflix Device For Televisions

Sony said today the PlayStation 3 is now the most popular device to watch Netflix streaming through a television and is also now the primary development platform for Netflix.

“The PlayStation and Netflix communities both share a strong passion for high quality entertainment,” SCEA  CEO Jack Tretton said. “Netflix provides a fantastic experience for watching TV shows and movies on PS3, and our joint development will continue to produce innovations for our customers that further demonstrate PS3 as the true home for entertainment in the living room.”

In July 2011, a Nielsen report suggested the Nintendo Wii was the most popular home console to stream Netflix.

    That's about the only thing I use my PS3 for. Minus just getting AC3.

    It helps that Sony doesn't charge you to access something you pay a subscription for.

    Two months and it will be the Wii U with the Nintendo TVii. That's what I'll be using from then on once I finally find a Wii U lol Now I am using my computer connected to my TV with an HDMI cable(before that I used my Wii). My PS3 and 360's Netflix has never been used Lol

    Watching Netflix and DVDs/Blu-ray discs are the main uses for my PS3. Haven't played any games on it for a while but that will change next year with The Last Of Us.

    Good for Sony and Netflix although I'm uncertain if any industry news can be gleaned from the information... Although everytime I'm logged in to psn at least one friend's logged on to netflix so I suppose that says something.

    I can believe this. The PS3 is garbage for gaming so it has to be used for something. I basically only use mine for watching Blu Ray.

    I love my PS3. It's so useful. I only recently signed up for Netflix, but it's definately worth it.

    That is an underhanded achievement. Most of my friends use their PS3s for either BluRay or Netflix. I happen to be one of the few who has all of three (360, PS3, and Wii), and I use my PS3 for gaming. This is something that Sony should address, or else it could be bad in the end.

    Pretty much everyone of my friends has Netflix on their ps3, so no surprise there. My favorite console ever, and I started gaming with the Atari 2600.

    That is very good for the PS3, already outselling the xbox 360 in every part of the world outside the US. The only place where the xbox have a good position is in the US.
