The United States Patent & Trademark Office has denied Microsoft the renewal of the Killer Instinct trademark due to potential conflict with a defunct Fox TV show.
The show of the same name only aired one season back in 2005, but the office decided that the trademark descriptions could be construed as similar, and in the end the resulting products might cause confusion.
Microsoft can appeal the decision.
In September, the company moved to renew the trademark.

Why doesn't m$ just call it KI 360? I highly doubt it would cause confusion. To me this is still the best 2d fighter for these reasons: no bootleg Bruce Lee character the fighting system c-c-combo breaker! Great character designs the ability to kill your opponent or humiliate them if you won with your first meter the epic music cool endings knocking your opponent off roof tops poor T.J. Combos car! Get this legal deal taken care of I'll even buy a 4th 360 m$... Oh and I demand the case and game be black just because. Thank you to everyone else who wants this game our support can make the difference. Peace

Some dumb tv show no one remembers IS NOT what people think of when they hear, "Killer Instinct".
Still, I doubt Rare could make a good fighting game these days anyway. I don't think Microsoft would do anything with KI anyway...
And if, in the unlikely event they felt the need to actually resurrect one of their fighting franchises (they also have... uh... Tao Feng, Kakuto Chojin and Kung Fu Chaos), they should just give it to a different developer. Someone like Eighting or CyberConnect 2 or AKI or something. Western fighting game studios - the few that have been - are much worse than their Japanese counterparts.
The game came out before this TV Show.... Besides no one remembers this show....

Besides Fox would have cancelled it even if it was successful.
Disappointing. This series should at least come back as a Xbla title. Well i guess there's always hope for a battletoads remake or another Perfect Dark sequel, unless microsoft wants Rare to do more kinect titles again because god knows we need more of those.....

WOW.....This is one of the best fighting games of all time. I've Been Dreaming of the day when this game would come back on the new systems. Just imagine if they made a Whole new KI game!! Were talking about one of the first fighting games that introduced combos and combo-breakers. BRING IT BACK FRESH!!!!

KI was, and always will be my favorite fighting franchise of all time. The first one and the arcade version of the KI2 (the N64 was so bad).

so i guess liking killer instinct gold on facebook will have to do until i can track down the cartridge then...
