Mortal Kombat: Legacy 2 Coming In Summer

Mortal Kombat: Legacy 2 – the second season of the live-action web series – is in production, and it will land in the second quarter of 2013.

The second season will debut exclusively on Machinima, and Kevin Tancharoen will return to direct the series and co-write it, as well as much of the cast.

The first clip for the series will appear on the 2013 Streamy Awards on February 17.

I'm actually not that excited. The original trailer led me to believe that this series would go in a new direction with Mortal Kombat and deviate from the supernatural by explaining why everyone can do what they do. They seemed to have dropped that concept for the actual series. That trailer, in my opinion, was more impressive than any of the actual episodes. So far, I've been disappointed.

Had some interesting takes on characters and storylines, but I'm not quite the Mortal Kombat fan I was in the 90's.

Season 1 was pretty good. An interesting take on the MK mythos. I hope this is just as good.

Very, very awesome news! Personally, I'd love to see it generate enough hype to see a full, theatrical release, more along the lines of the original short a few years ago, and get away from the "supernatural" elements so much. Save for Raiden and Shang Tsung, mind you; I really dug how they handled Raiden's story in the first season of Legacy. Although, the Chinese straw-hat should have been nixed entirely.
