The lights are on
Leaked details about Bungie's first post-Halo release have been circulating over the past few days, but the studio has been planting seeds about the game for several years. An eagle-eyed Halo 3: ODST player noticed what looked like a reference to the upcoming game, and it was confirmed by a member of that game's development team.
Twitter user Ryan Butler sent Vic Deleon a link to the above image, asking the environmental artist why exactly Destiny's planet and close-orbiting moon image was featured in an in-game sign.
Deleon responded with the tweet below.
There you have it. Perhaps this will inspire people to stop and read the signage more often. You never know what you may find.

that's interesting, so its actually been in development that long? damn.
This is pretty much what I'd expect from Bungie. Subtle hints all over the place of their other games. I'm sure Destiny is going to be chocked full of Marathon, ONI, Mythic and Halo references, and I can't wait.
That's awesome. I believe I saw this but I can't be sure. What a great game
I remember that.
Ha, awesome. I'm sure I've read that sign before, but never would have made that connection.
Clever.
The planet in question is Earth. That is the African continent under the cloud cover. The camera position is lower than an equator shot. Thus Africa is positioned a little higher and we see more of Antarctica.
So it truly was a predetermined destiny...
Sneaky bastards xD Hiding that right under our noses. Clever girl...
hohoho! cool!
I remember reading this sign and wondering to myself.
Just think...it was right under out noses the whole time..then again, we didn't know they would game other than Halo at the time.
Cool.
... Thats no moon!
So then the concept of Destiny and its universe has been around since at least 2009? That actually makes me even more excited for it.
i thought ODST was one of the better Halo's....still fun to go back and play.
