The lights are on
We were THIS close to getting a third Battlefront game. Free Radical co-founder Steve Ellis said the game would have been a turning point for the company after falling into development trouble with Haze.
"We were making a game with very high ambition," Ellis said in an interview with gamesTM magazine. "You could start a battle on the ground, jump into a ship and fly into space, continuing on to dock in a capital ship and continue the battle there."
An early version of the game leaked this past April. An hour of additional footage leaked the following July.
"We'd had to build all kinds of new tech and overcome numerous technical challenges and limitations but we had done it. We had a 99% finished game that just needed bug fixing for release," he added.
"It should have been our most successful game, but it was cancelled for financial reasons. I'm happy that people did at least get to see what we were working on and share the team's enthusiasm for it."

Its lame that has to happen, like really, 99%? thats just a tease to the fans.
It's like kicking a dead horse. Only this is more cruel.
NOOOOOOO!!! don't tell me stuff like this! ignorance is bliss! damn. I'm going to go play some Battlefront 1 now...
hey you know operation rainfall? how come no ones started opperation battlefront or anything? i mean SOMETHING to help make this game a reality?
I cannot understand this logic. Essentially every video game community wanted Battlefront III, even places like /v/.
Why not release now?!?!?!?!
and yet another reason to hate Haze... such a bad game already
It's like my heart was ripped out, thrown on the ground, stepped on, place back into my chest and then I was slapped.
Kickstarter for the release!
This is probaly the saddest thing i have ever heard.
I am literally going to shoot something right now.
That is horrible! I loved number 2 why would this happen!
Wish they coulda just released it. Some hardcore modders woulda patched the hell out of this
CURSE YOU MONEY? Why is money always the problem, yet also the solution? Damn.
Star Wars: Battlefront was my first dedicated shooter. I miss it so.
I know it is the Star Wars corporation (Lucas Film) and perhaps that is why no one picked this game up to publish it (copyrights and whatnots) after the studio collapsed... but c'mon people! I think it would have made a little bit of money, don't you?
