Sony Boasts Black Friday Sales

Sony said today sales of PlayStation 3 during Black Friday week (November 18-24) in the U.S. totaled 525,000 units. PlayStation Vita sales hit 160,000.

"We're very pleased with the Black Friday sales results, especially the incredible reception for the PS3 and PS Vita bundles. The demand was very strong which quickly depleted our inventory across retailers nationwide," said SCEA president and CEO Jack Tretton.

"The PlayStation brand generated significant revenue and year-over-year growth at retail because of our focus on what gamers love most in combining amazing hardware with great games and digital entertainment."

Sony said PlayStation Black Friday bundle sales increased 15%, and total PS3 sales including hardware, software and peripherals, grew 9% over the same period last year. Additionally, sales of PlayStation Plus subscriptions on PSN increased 259 percent compared to last year.

Yeah! PS3 sucks! Xbox sold way more copies than that. Take that Sony! I'll keep buying Xbox's my whole life no matter how many time they may break. Live is just so much better on Xbox

I wasn't sold on PS Plus when it was first announced and implemented, but I am 6 months in to my subscription and absolutely loving it. I am really looking for a good enough reason to grab a Vita, unfortunately I haven't seen enough quality games yet. It looks like the handheld I've always dreamed of having.

So, let's have a breakdown: Xbox 360: 750,000 PS3: 525,000 Vita: 160,000 Wii U (launch stock): 400,000 Wii: 300,000 3DS: 250,000 DS: 275,000 To be frank, I'm shocked the Vita did so poorly. The bundles for that system were pretty good.

i got the assassin's creed 3 bundle with the 500GB PS3 on Black Friday (No it wasnt' on sale, sadly). After transferring my data from my old ps3 and downloading all my games from my download list, i now have 100GB left lol. Now my wife can play some online multiplayer with me!

I still wish the Vita were selling better. For all of Sony's success, Vita is having a hard time. Those are some solid numbers to be sure, but both the 3DS and DS outsold it. hopefully this will build some momentum

I'm enjoying the Vita bundle I got a lot... Between AC Lib, Uncharted Golden Abyss, and now Persona4 Golden, It's got all the games I needed to sway me over! Hopefully more'll join in as it's a pretty fine little machine.
