The lights are on
It's routine for companies to gauge interest in something regardless of whether it ultimately ends up coming to pass. Surveys, focus groups, and trademarks are just a few of the methods used by publishers and developers to kick the tires on ideas. As it has done in the past, Ubisoft has commissioned a survey that inquires about another Assassin's Creed in 2013, co-op play, and much more.
The Gaming Liberty has uncovered the GMI survey that asks a range of questions from participants' thoughts on Assassin's Creed 3 and its DLC, to more future-orientated questions like whether they want co-op in the series. This includes everything from splitscreen offline co-op to undertaking assassination or story-based missions with a friend.
Elsewhere the survey also asks about participants' thoughts on matters like player customization, PvP multiplayer, a new present-day hero other than Desmond, playing another game with Connor, playing as a Templar, playing as a new assassin in a new time period, and more.
The survey also asked how likely participants' would be to purchase a new Assassin's Creed game in 2013.
In the past, Ubisoft has used surveys to gauged interest in features like co-op, and given Ubisoft's history with the franchise, we frankly expect a new game in the series to come out in 2013. We'll have to see what makes the cut.

While my input is limited with this series, I think continuing to have stand-alone game time periods/set pieces is a better route then making the games sequels upon another. It allows more room to expand and try out new things, without being restricted to characters and (what I hear) is a convoluted storyline.
that said Ezio Auditore still remains the signature Assassin for the franchise ( If I had to pick one :p).
Really another one I am sure they could take a break.
I really like Assassin's Creed III and Connor, but I don't want another game so soon. Take time to make the next one.
Frankly, I will be rather disappointed if Ubi continues the same tack with the series. I was less than thrilled with AC III (and especially the Anvil engine).
I'd be more than happy if they didn't release something next year (as they already SAID they wouldn't), and instead focused on retooling for next-gen, with a brand-new setting and protagonist.
Then again, if they did continue with Connor next year on the Anvil engine, I'm sure I would buy it. :P
Please for the love of humanity take a year off. What happened to "We will take a few years off from Assassin's Creed after we release AC3". I though Ubisoft was going to stand by that. I know that I'm anything but a fan of the series but I'm sure that even the fans of the series are getting a little tired of a yearly game.
Please Stop with the Annual Assassin's Creed
really? i love ac series but they need to stop the yearly releases ... i've loved all the games but i'm also liking them less and less each time for 1 thing or another ...n 3 was rather buggy ( not game brakingly but still annoying)
I'd really like them to take a year off. I'm really burned out on this series.
Would love a new present day and past hero. Desmond and Connor were too dull and serious. Ezio was a better character by far but i'm glad they didn't drag his story on.
I would hate to have storyline co-op as AC is and should be about storyline and a confusing one at that and talking to your mates would distract you from that.
I would definitely play another AC if it comes out in 2013 as I love the series.
I hope most people put the same answers as these because I really care about the series.
Too soon. They need to let the awesomeness of AC3 set in for a couple years.
Oh, it will be...
How about, you know, a game about actual assassins? With the sneaking and the stabbing and less of the errands and the one-man army thing.
Wait, what am I asking, we're all multi-playing glitcheroes without personalities chasing ghosts.
