Fist Of The North Star 2 And Dynasty Warriors 7 Empires Release In February

Tecmo Koei's adaptation of Fist of the North Star didn't have a ton of fans, but if you're one of them then you might be excited to know that the publisher will release the sequel this February, which coincidentally is the same month it plans to release Dynasty Warriors 7 Empires. That was not a great sentence.

Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage 2 hits PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on February 5 and will feature a Legend mode that follows the storyline of the manga, a Dream Mode that introduces new, original storylines to the Fist of the North Star Universe, and online co-op and competitive modes. We're having a little bit of trouble getting excited over this game since we gave the first one a 4.5.

Dynasty Warriors 7 Empires is another game we're not really excited about, since we've played Dynasty Warriors about three dozen times already, but if you're still trucking along with this series the next entry releases on February 26.

If you don't care about either of these games, why are you still reading this?

  • Ah Dynasty Warriors, still using the same game mechanics as they always have.
  • Any Dynasty Warriors Game kicks so much butt! Call of Duty can die in a fire!
  • ^ That.

  • It's really hard to hate Call of Duty and the so called lack of innovation of game dynamics and technology when this abomination keeps spawning...  Not sequels...  Not even iterations...  Not more...  Not even clones, as you only clone something because it had some original appeal.

    This truly boggles my mind.

  • How does this company keep making games? Seems like every one of their releases are critically panned.
  • I love Dynasty Warriors! It's funny how Call of Duty is just as repetitive but Call of Duty will get a 9 while Dynasty Warriors gets a 6 or 7. Even though you can actually learn some stuff about Chinese history by playing the game. Dynasty Warriors has actually helped me in some of my East Asian classes. Anybody know who Nu Wa or Fu Xi are? I do because they were playable characters in DW3, and it got me a question right on my Eastern Religions test.
  • I use to love dynasty warriors. *sigh* but then the sixth one came out.
  • I haven't picked a Dynasty Warriors game up in a while, might be interesting time to play one again. Although, I think I'd rather wait for a non-empires instalment. Empires always felt...lacking in some way, possibly the lack of story mode.

  • So, who here still PLAYS Dynasty Warriors?
  • Didn't Dynasty Warriors 7 Empires already come out on the PS3, but not the 360?

Either way, couple more games for me to rent, I really enjoyed Dynasty Warriors 7 and Warriors Orochi 3.

They aren't games you buy though, they are rentals.
  • I remember playing Dynasty Warriors IV. It was one of my favorite games as a kid. It's a shame that it's the exact same now than it was then.

  • "If you don't care about either of these games, why are you still reading this?"

I wanted to know if you were going to describe the difference between the Empires sub-series and the normal, numbered Dynasty Warriors' games.

Omega Force, please make something else. Winback was neat. Remember when Dynasty Warriors was a fighting game? Try making a fighting game again! Do something else entirely! Just put this series on ice for awhile, please.

  • Talk about doing the same thing a hundred times...

Maybe Activision and EA studied Koei.

  • I actually enjoy the Empires games. Just the management aspect(no matter how slight) is a good distraction from the fighting. So many soldiers.....so much slashing.
  • Good thing that article was so short. I didn't give two tinker's cuss about either of those gab squarbled titles.

  • How many people have never even played a Dynasty Warriors game because magazines/reviewers like Game Informer give them horrible reviews based solely on the fact that they have played it "three dozen times"? They don't seem to review each game on it's own merits but only how similar they feel it is to the last game. Because, you know, Madden and Call of Duty switch things up so dramatically with each new game I can see how this is a problem for them. What does CoD give you with each yearly game? New levels? New weapons? New characters? So does Warriors. The only repetition might be the story as it's based on a historical novel that's been around for centuries. Guess that can't measure up to CoD's timeless stories. I'm not saying the CoD games are bad or that people shouldn't enjoy them, but the hypocrisy is almost staggering. The series might not be for everybody, but it'd be nice if they judged every game by the same standard. It's a shame to, because a lot more people would probably give the Warriors games a try. Instead, the fans of the series have to deal with the fact that Warriors Orochi 3 didn't even get a release with full English translation. Hopefully, Empires will actually get a retail PS3 release. The worse part is it's not like any of the GI staff are even reading this or even give a crap. The reviewers they have can only enjoy what they enjoy and it's only a matter of opinion, but let's face it, magazine reviews hold a lot more sway than the average person's opinion. Companies give out bonuses on Metacritic scores not the User scores of the same website. And don't give me that "vote with your dollar" crap either. I do, but I have a national magazine telling people to not spend their dollars on the same game. Look at me, I'm ranting at this point. I guess I'm just tired of every Warriors game getting horrible reviews based on the accusation that each game is just like the last. That's no more true for them than it is CoD. How about a little fairness GI? I'm not expecting a 9, but they deserve better than 3 or 4. I mean let's face it, even this article is basically a spit in the faces of people who enjoy the Warriors (and Fist of the North Star) games. If Ben Reeves can't have any more respect than that, kick him to the curb. His journalistic integrity is already there waiting for him.
  • oh here's a idea for dynasty warriors 8 how about making it different from all the other millions of dynasty warriors
  • You should mention, Mr. Reeves, that - at least with Dynasty Warriors 7 Empires up there - the series has been demoted to a digital only release. In Europe, it comes out a week earlier, digital and retail. Here in the 'states though, like also with One Piece Pirate Warriors, it's PSN-only.

Serves Koei right, for trotting out the same thing again, and again, and again. CHANGE IT UP. Make it relevant again! You guys make EA Sports' series and Call of Duty look like they freshen things up IMMENSELY every year. Ugh.

  • After playing Samurai Warriors: Chronicles and comparing what the reviews said to what I played and doing some research, I no longer trust anything mainstream gaming websites say about the various Warriors series. It's so strange how reviews for Call of Duty and the New Super Mario Bros games say the exact same thing as the reviews for the Warriors games yet get different scores, popularity shield or bias, take your pick. Also, the reviews always assume I played a previous installment, hard to find a good review when they don't take your perspective into account. Yes it's the same, now explain it to me so I don't have to read the review of the first game for actual information. Reviewers need to learn to judge a game by itself, only focus on it's place in the series if it's unwelcoming to newcomers (like having a complexe story continued from previous installments with no 'previously on' for newcomers). On another note, Samurai Warriors taught me about Japanesse history. Probably going to learn about the Romance of the Three Kingdoms when I pick up Dynasty Warriors (that's what it's based on if I remember correctly).
