BioShock Infinite Won't Have Multiplayer

When BioShock Infinite ships next year the game won't have a multiplayer mode. Studio head Ken Levine confirmed the news in a series of tweets over the weekend. The original BioShock from 2007 did not contain multiplayer, however the sequel, developed by 2K Marin, did.

The long-developed game finally releases this February for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

  • Well who would have known!!
  • Doesn't need it. I think that's one of the things that made Bioshock 2 less fun. I hate having to play games multiplayers to unlock trophies/achievements...
  • Actually had a bit of fun with Bioshock 2's mp. Apart from everyone humping the turrets, it was fairly fun.
  • What do you actually do in Bioshock Infinite? I heard a lot of people saying they are hyped up for it. I never have played one of those games.
  • Fine by me. Bioshock is for the singe player for me, if they didn't want to go all out for a multiplayer mode then I'm glad they didn't just tack one on.
  • Personally I never really paid much attention to the multiplayer. The compelling story is what draws me in, and Infinite is looking to have one hell of a story.
  • Wasn't this already established a while ago? I don't really care for bioshock multiplayer anyway, just means we are getting more effort put into the single player experience, which is all i care about in this series.
  • THANK GOD! Then they can focus more on SP.

  • I'm ok with this. At this point, I just want to game in my grubby hands already. Honest though, multiplayer seems like it would be awesome, but I'm perfectly cool without it. I'd actually prefer a co-op option. I think that would be fun.
  • I never played the multiplayer in BioShock 2.

So that would indicate that I'm perfectly fine with this decision.

  • That's perfectly fine by me! It doesn't need it.

  • And that's perfect with me.  The campaign looks like it needs all the attention it deserves.

  • mulitiplayer has become kinda lame.  seriously the peak of multiplayer for me was halo 2.  why every game needs mulitiplayer in the vain of team death matches is beyond me.

  • Fine with me.

  • Good. Not every title needs MP shoehorned into it.

  • This is no problem at all. The first Bioshock was pure gold and that didn't have multiplayer. It was a solid single player game and I can not wait for this new entry.
  • Good. Not every game needs multiplayer.

  • From what we've seen, it doesn't need it.

  • Not really suprising and im glad it wont to be honest

  • Oh no, what are fans of online multi going to play now?!  Oh yeah, tons and tons of stuff that's already out.
