Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition Releasing Next Week

After a few setbacks, the enhanced edition of Baldur's Gate is definitely releasing next week. As you can see from the image above, it should be available on Wednesday, November 28, and as you can see below, there is a trailer for the game. The promised iPad version should be releasing shortly after.

  • OMG SO EXCITED! FINALLY! This game started my love affair with all things fantasy. I still have my original copy.
  • Oh damn, so excited I double posted.
  • i can see why they put DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS above the games name because it's well known, but they really should have put forgotten realms there instead lol.

  • you would never see me get a game like this,as it is 'outdated.' imho

in which im trying to say is that the game mechanics and such that were hailed back then might not stand the age of time today to me.
  • Adam's favorite game.

  • Cool, I guess. I played one of these games on the PS2 a long time ago. My brother and I had some pretty good times playing it.
  • I'm glad this is finally coming out. I played through a little bit of BG1 a couple of years ago during the winter, but stopped playing it for a reason I can't remember. I'll be glad to get back into this game and I'll definitely enjoy the story it will provide, especially for characters that are in BG2. If this remake is actually good, I'll probably play through the whole thing and maybe see if I can import my character into BG2 and finally finish that as well. For anyone that hasn't played Baldur's Gate for PC before, DO NOT expect a game anywhere similar to the games for playstation or gamecube or whatever else it was on. This style of Baldur's Gate is not a hack n' slash. It's a strategy RPG with an isometric view. You control a diverse party and have many different abilities at your disposal. The player can take advantage of pausing in combat to analyze the battle and choose moves for your characters. If you play the game right, you'll have a blast killing things, collecting loot, leveling up, and you will experience a fair amount of challenge. Expect to reload your saves a lot unless they toned down the difficulty. Sorry for the long post but I love Baldur's Gate and really want people to know what they're getting into.
  • Truly one of the greats!

  • i should really get this when i have the chance

  • There's a preload if you already bought it. http://www.baldursgate.com/news_2012nov22.en.html
  • Holy crap yes! I'll have to pick this up; I've always wanted to play this game ever since I played Dragon Age 1.
  • want!

  • I've played all the Infinity Engine D&D games and BG was one of the best, right after BG2 of course. I'll be getting this for my iPad and so I'll finally have a reason to play games on it. I hope they do BG2 next and let you carry over characters like the old PC version. Also wouldn't mind an hd version of Planescape:Torment or maybe Fallout 1&2.
  • Great in 1972, not so great in 2012. Nothing to see, move along, leave Rose tinted glasses in the collection bin on the way out thank you.
  • This game and Fallout 1 had me glued to my screen for months when it came out, incredible game.

  • Doesn't look all that enhanced to me.

Granted, I never played BG when it came out but I started it a few weeks ago.  Looks like the exact same game.

  • Strategy games can be fun for me, but they aren't my cup of tea (I seriously didn't mean to make that rhyme, please do not murder me). Since I prefer real-time games, I'll try the console version of Baldur's Gate. That one is supposedly just as good.
