The lights are on
Australian gamer Okan Kaya has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest marathon gaming session ever recorded: a stunning 135 hour play session of Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Is there an Achievement for that?
Kaya is employed by online retailer 4Cabling, and played the game for seven days to make the mark. Now, I know what you're thinking: "There are way more than 135 hours in a week, what gives?" Well, according to Guinness rules, a marathon game player gets a 10 minute break per hour. These smaller breaks can be saved up to allow the player to accumulate longer breaks for sleeping or eating. That said, 135 hours of gaming is an insane mark, especially considering that some of the Game Informer staff struggled to make it to 27 consecutive hours of Super Smash Bros. (watch our online documentary "Smashed" to see all the gory details), as well as a later Guinness attempt when Dan Ryckert and Jeff Cork managed to play for 50 hours straight.
Kaya's mark is well over double any of our attempts, so hats off to this remarkable gamer and his unbreakable will. Sadly, he was only 37th on the Black Op II leaderboards at the end of his session, so he's got some more practice ahead of him.

Ya their is an achievement for that, It's called death. Good god
This reminds me of the Korean family who let their real life baby starve to death so they could marathon some garbage free-to-play Korean MMO and spend time with their in-game baby. Gross. I am not sure if this obsession glorification should be encouraged.
Pretty sad. Id never waste that much time playing a game...over time maybe but in one go no way. I got work, school, life, and food...mmmm twinkies.
Dear God, the guy looks like he's dying in the picture!
thats crazy talk.
He looks like he is in terrible pain
Damn! I wish I could play that long. My Eyes would give up on me.
Hmmmmm, I wonder how long he waited before picking up the controller again, after the record. I would need at least a week off. You think he still plays COD after all that?
was he gaming on a toilet?
Somebody get that man some eye drops!
I bet he doesn't have a girlfriend or a wife ..
I bet he was fueled by barbequed shrimp and Fosters. Only the most clever of people will see what I did here.
Also, Aussie Aussie Ausssie, oy oy oy! Kangaroos, baby eating dingos and vegemite.
yeah i love games an all but thats *** stupid, lucky he didnt die
also i have a job
For everyone saying what a waste, hes in guinness!! That is quite an acheivement
this is only impressive if his kill/death was above 1.0 over that many hours
135 hours ? Wow I think I have only gone 2 days on a game but I guess that's not pushing my self/taking small breaks every hour
Honestly, 135 hours poorly spent. If you really are happy breaking records like this, then you're not a very useful member of society.
