The lights are on
The free-to-play option for Star Wars: The Old Republic went live today. Players can now get to level 50 for free. This option is in addition to the already existing subscription service. BioWare also released Game Update 1.5: HK-51 Activated, which adds new areas, a new companion character, and more.
For a complete breakdown between the free and subscription versions, head over to the official website here.
I've tried many times to try WoW and this and I never end up doing so because it always takes SO long to download everything
I am definitely going to play it, but not soon... The game is probably over 25GB now with patches and stuff. Actually, even that may be a modest estimate. I wish MMO's had better compression techniques.
the game was great for a time but i have moved on like so many other people to guild wars 2 and to other games
Cool, I've been waiting for the option to come out!
Woot! No more paying for a subscription.
I've played the F2P model for about 2 hours. There are more restrictions than it is written here. For instance you can't make the helm disappear (interface option) without paying for it. Of course if you don't choose that option you won't see how evil your character looks (allignment points). All the titles you have earned are only available if you are paying. Experience point gain is also lowered for people playing F2P...
Cool.
I'm downloading it now! I already play both WoW and Guild Wars 2, so I'm excited to try an MMO in the Star Wars universe.
Well, now I might actually go back to playing it...
